Full gallery: Restyled Mercedes-Benz R-Class
We previously posted up leaked images of the refreshed Mercedes-Benz R-Class prior to the New York show, and here are some high-res images of the NYC debutant.

For this restyle, Mercedes got rid of the original car’s odd oval headlamps (with tumors growing from their bases) and put in wing-shaped units. LED daytime running lights in combination with bi-xenon headlamps are optional in the US. The facelift is quite comprehensive – the R-Class’ hood, fenders, radiator grille, front fascia, headlamps and bumpers with chrome underguards are all new. They should have done the same for the R’s cabin, which looks very previous-gen and out of tune with Mercedes’ current range.

In America, two variants are available. The R350 4MATIC delivers 268 bhp and 350 Nm of torque, while the R350 BlueTEC 4MATIC is said to be one of the world’s cleanest diesel vehicles. Its V6 turbodiesel generates 210 bhp and a massive 542 Nm of grunt. It comes with Mercedes’ AdBlue exhaust treatment system for low emissions.

Gallery after the jump.

  • i think the pre-fl looks much2 better than this one…the new headlamp looks more like the current c-class..not a bad thing but a car this size should look bulkier n stronger n the last one is a very nice&different looking,i believe..just my 2cents..hehe

    • there is many classes of mercedes benz, starting with A CLASS,B CLASS,C CLASS,E CLASS, M CLASS ,VITO,and it certainly reflected the taste and individuality of its owners except for this one .if u buy this model, its just like u r in the no mans land, like u r stuck in the sungai golok. river not in malaysia and not in thailand, it will definitely be a new benchmark for a very unique group of buyers and they will be known as MORON!!!! OR PEOPLE FROM THE MOON!!!!!!!!!! LOL SO UGLY

  • Frankly I dont like SUVs or MPVs with glass roof cos u cant then install overhead LCD monitors for your kids enjoyment at the back. It means you no choice but to install back seat LCDs but I hate those. The ones in the photos showed some version of 2din ICE but still they are too small for people at the back.
Anyway this merc is much better than the previous one.
