Hyundai HND-9 Concept – future Genesis Coupe?

Hyundai HND-9-01

As promised, the Hyundai HND-9 Concept made its debut at the 2013 Seoul Motor Show. The luxury sports coupe concept illustrates the company’s future design direction, according to Hyundai.

“HND-9 will give customers a glimpse of Hyundai’s future luxury sports coupe models. Representing an evolution of Hyundai’s ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ design philosophy, the rear-wheel drive sports coupe concept balances high performance with a sophisticated image,” said Suk-Geun Oh, head of Hyundai Design Center.

The HND-9 is the ninth concept model developed by the Hyundai’s R&D Center in Namyang, Korea. A “modern reinterpretation of an elegant, classic premium sports coupe” the vehicle has an overall length of 4,695 mm, width of 1,890 mm and height of 1,340 mm, with a 2,860 mm wheelbase. In other words, it’s long, wide and low slung, with butterfly doors for full effect.

It’s not important for a design concept, but the HND-9 is equipped with 3.3 litre turbo GDI engine. The 370 PS unit is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

While the Detroit-debuting HCD-14 concept previewed the next-gen Hyundai Genesis in a sleek four-door coupe form, this one previews a “next-generation luxury sports coupe” – so we could be looking at the next Genesis Coupe. Promising.

    Looks like a shark, cool.
Hyundai has master the tech of sportscar I presumed, and now they know what materials are more durable. The absorbers are heavy duty, 5 million times, no?
