Audi has teased its A9 concept again – this time in a video – in the run-up to the Los Angeles motor show, where it will be revealed. The clip introduces new design head Marc Lichte, who says he’s inspired by cars like the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO, the original A8 and the original TT coupe.
Besides spearheading a new design direction for Audi, the concept previews a new flagship to sit above the already-large A8. As the A5 (Sportback) is to the A4 and A7 is to the A6, we’re expecting no less than a sleek and swoopy fastback silhouette. Something to fight super-luxury sedans like the Aston Martin Rapide, perhaps.
We took the liberty of capturing some stills from the video and brightening them up for you – those look like Matrix LED headlamps, and along with the intricately-designed alloys and huge front grille, the vehicle should look quite a treat.
Reports speculate a 600 hp 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8, an MLB Evo platform, a hot S9 version for the future and a production debut either in 2016 or 2017. Looks like we’ll just have to wait for November 18 to find out.

It looks production ready…but hell this will be bigger than the A8…confirm valet parking for this behemoth. Looks futuristic too, can’t wait to see it in the metal.
This Audi A9 will look like Audi A1,A2,A3,A4,A5,A6,A7 and A8.
Applies to bimmer & merc as well..
holy molly! looks like a superbly exciting model! can’t wait to see it being revealed soon. hope to see new design language in Audi since the current design is a tad bit boring to see any loner.
