Ford Ranger Wildtrak facelift spotted undisguised

With the current T6 Ford Ranger on sale locally since 2012, it’s no surprise that the facelifted version is already inching closer and closer to a public debut. As such, images of the refreshed Ranger in Wildtrak trim have surfaced – this time spotted roving about undisguised in Thailand.

Last year, Ford Asia Pacific released a short teaser video on the facelifted Ranger. The truck you see here carries forward all the key details with the addition of a darkened front grille and bumper, roof bars and (masked) decals as per Wildtrak requirements.

Despite a lack of interior details and photos, one can expect the facelifted Ranger Wildtrak and its accompanying variants to arrive with an Everest-inspired layout – the highlight of which could be the inclusion of the SYNC 2 infotainment system.

Powertrain options are expected to mirror the Everest – which includes the pair of tried-and-tested 148 hp and 375 NmDuratorq TDCi four-cylinder and 197 hp and 470 Nm 3.2 litre five-cylinder turbodiesels. The Everest will feature a 2.0 litre EcoBoost turbo’ed four-cylinder petrol unit, but this might not make it on to the Ranger.

As for transmissions, the Getrag-designed MT82 six-speed manual and 6R80 six-speed auto are expected to carry over from the current model. With the revamped Ranger set to go on sale later this year, expect the local launch to take place in the third quarter of 2015.
