As you are well aware, Toyota is building a sports car – slated to replace the long-departed, sorely-missed Toyota Supra – in collaboration with BMW. As we eagerly await the fruits of the partnership, slated to appear in 2018, rendering wizard Theophilus Chin has again whipped out his Photoshop brushes to visualise his idea of what Japan’s next performance hero will look like.
Using the stunning FT-1 Concept – long rumoured to be a preview of the final product – as the obvious base, Theo set about reconfiguring the show car for a more production-ready look. Out goes the triple-claw headlights, proboscis nose and twin electric intake fans, replaced by more pedestrian projector headlights, a more pedestrian-friendly schnoz and a gaping lower air inlet inspired by the 86.
Elsewhere, other 86 parts have sprouted, such as the wing mirrors, door handles and wheels. The Corvette ZR1-style glass engine “window” and large front fender vents of the concept have also been massaged out, while the complex barrel-like surfacing along the flanks – which probably would not have been feasible for production – has been simplified.
Speculation is rife regarding details of the joint sports car – both BMW and Toyota models are expected to make use of a BMW-sourced turbo straight-six. There are also reports that Toyota has trademarked the S-FR name to use on its version. Whatever it’s called, we can’t wait to see it!

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Nope….change the headlamps…
No way toyota will bow down to honda’s uber cool 12 leds headlamps
Theophilus Chin free, everyday draw car.
Toyota takes decades to build one sportscar …
decades of legend.
Another 2 decades to install VSC in its bolehland version cars
As long as its not a kimchi, it will have RV
2nd Camry can get below 100k, no RV
2005 camry of course sell below 100k. For 100k, you can get a 2005 Audi also.
Dun compare rubbish camry with conti Audi
Contis are for riches, the dun care about depreciation value but most Japs cars buyers do.
So, it’s bad to lose 60k in 10 years, even faster than that
If sushi got RV, why your father bought you saga?
Seeing this is toyota im not surprised if that is really how its going to end up looking in production form, good god please no.
It’s kinda Toyota’s thing now to offend everyone with their styling. I hear they’re working on making something even uglier than the Mirai.
Ugly styling is only half of their problem, i truly hate how their production vs concept cars are so different you couldnt even believe its from the same company, its just so absurd. Why even bother.
Because Mirai can save fuel more than your hybrid Merc!
if im rich enough to actually have a merc, do you think i give a rats S that a fugly toyota is more economical?
Yes because Mirai looks like darth vader tank, can push any bigger Merc into mines or drain!
Godzilla can now hit the panic button.
no need, this just a gecko..
Hope it comes with powerful engine. Maybe 2.0 turbocharged, 280hp. The ft86 is low hp.
My quad piped myvi can surely smoke this anytime
your quad pipe is just a decoy anyway.
Audi merc bmw pipes are coming from one engine. What so special about it?
you jus’ can’t afford them are you?
Nah…I think it’s gonna be 3.0 NA like its predecessor maybe more, that’s is more suited.
Chin you should just stop doing these crappy half-assed renders
lol thats just a Dodge Viper with some Toyota 86 & Supra bits stuck to it.
I can understand if Toyota wants to use BMW’s expertise on the chassis and handling department, but using their engine as well???? That’ll be a huge shame, I mean the Japanese already have decades and tonnes of experience in high performance engines, why need to use a German engine this time?? Ain’t gonna happen..
