Having been unveiled recently in Thailand just months ago, the eighth-gen Toyota Hilux is now being offered with a TRD bodykit, in the Land of Smiles. Appearing on Toyota Thailand’s website is the Toyota Hilux which looks somewhat similar to the Toyota Hilux Revo TRD Sport Offroad prototype that we saw earlier.
Exterior-wise, a new TRD front grille with matte black surround is featured at the front. Additionally, for the front bottom section, it comes with a black lower bumper complemented with a red TRD-tagged skid plate to complete that rugged face – as seen on the prototype as well.
On the side, blacked-out over fenders for all four wheel arches are also part of the bundle, however, there are no black 18-inch alloy rims, as seen previously. As for the sidesteps, it’s in a full-black colour. Down the back, the tray receives a dark-coloured sports bar with a red TRD label, fitted on as well.
The TRD bodykit package costs 48,900 baht (RM5,960) and it’s purely aesthetic, and there are no interior enhancements either. Underneath the new Hilux features two new turbodiesel engines – a 177 hp/450 Nm 2.8 litre 1GD-FTV and a 150 hp/400 Nm 2.4 litre 2GD-FTV from the GD family, as well as a revised six-speed intelligent manual and a new six-speed automatic gearbox.
