Following the official preview of the Nissan NP300 Navara, Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has announced that it will be organising test drive carnivals at select locations for the public to get up close and personal with the new “Mother Trucker”.

From November 14 to 15, the first of a series of test drive carnivals will be held at ETCM showrooms in Glenmarie, Butterworth, Ipoh, Johor Jaya and Seremban. Moving on, ETCM Sungai Petani in Kedah will host its own NP300 Navara test drive carnival from November 20 to 21.

Meanwhile, from November 21 to November 22, the final series of test drive carnivals will be held at these ETCM showrooms – Petaling Jaya, Southgate, Semabok, Kota Bharu, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching.

The NP300 Navara line-up consists of six variants that include a sole single cab option, and five double cab models – E (MT), SE (MT), SE (AT), V (AT) and VL (AT). Tentative prices start at RM85,000 for the single cab model and go up to RM125,000 for the VL-spec.

A 2.5 litre YD25DDTi four-cylinder turbodiesel engine powers all NP300 Navara variants, with a power output rating of 163 PS/403 Nm. However, the engine in the double cab VL is tuned to provide 190 PS/450 Nm. A seven-speed automatic or six-speed manual gearbox are offered.

An all-wheel drive system is standard on all NP300 Navara variants, and features on-the-fly switching up to 100 km/h. All double cab models also come with a rear multi-link suspension (live axle) setup, but the single cab retains a leaf spring configuration instead.

Bookings for the new Nissan NP300 Navara are already open with an official launch scheduled to take place soon.

  • I honestly do not know in which category to put the Navara in, im guessing in between commercial and leisure?

You see alot of Hilux, Triton used in heavy commercial sector, barely any Rangers and Dmax mainly due to their more – playful/rugged on-road nature. But Navaras i would rarely see in construction sites or as pimp-trucks. Maybe its where I live, but it seems this Navara looks a bit stale compared to other new offerings. Nice interior though.
