Mercedes-Benz E-Class Edition E – in Malaysia soon

E 300 Bluetec Hybrid KL-BKK 7

Two new Edition E special editions of the W212 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will soon be introduced in Malaysia. We’re still awaiting official prices and specifications, but for now, we understand that the pair will officially be known as the E 200 Edition E and the E 250 Edition E.

The E 200 Edition E will carry forward all its previous specifications, but will add on larger 18-inch five large-spoke alloy wheels (replacing the previous 17-inch twin-five-spoke type), larger perforated front disc brakes similar to that of the current E 250, with “Mercedes-Benz” lettering on the brake calipers.

Meanwhile, the E 250 Edition E will also maintain its current specifications, but will add an AMG Line exterior kit, similar to that available on the E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid and the E 400. This will particularly include the more aggressive front and rear bumper and side skirts, twin rear bumper-integrated exhaust tips and 18-inch AMG five-spoke alloy wheels.

No images of the E 200 and E 250 Edition E models have been revealed yet, so we’ve included a gallery of the E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid below to give you an idea of what the car could look like.

Interestingly, both models will also come standard with an illuminated Three-Pointed Star, which lights up when the car is unlocked, or when the doors or boot is opened. Additionally Edition E badges will also be visible on the front fenders and floor mats of both cars.

Given that the Edition E variants feature mostly cosmetic upgrades, there aren’t any changes to the vehicles’ powertrains, leaving the E 200 Edition E powered by the 184 hp/300 Nm 2.0 litre turbo four, likewise, a higher-tuned 211 hp/350 Nm version of the engine is available for the E 250 Edition E.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has confirmed to us that full details of the new W212 Edition E variants will be revealed very soon, so stay tuned for more details and check out the galleries below for reference.

That illuminated logo is cool, bordering on tacky, but still eye catching in a good way.

Mercedes got it right with the design cues for the current E-class. I got to say that the E-class is a trend setter own its own. It took big guts to come out with the “4 eyed” E-class design which to me became the E-Class icon. And it also took big guts to ditch that for a more standard headlamp but still as good looking as it is today. Can’t wait to see what the next generation E would offer in terms of its looks.

The next generation E would look like a longer version of the C, which looks like a shorter version of the S, meaning that the E would look like a shorter than S but longer than C car.
