Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) is the official car sponsor at this year’s Le Tour De Langkawi Malaysia 2016, which will be held from today (February 24) till March 2. The company will be supplying 190 units of the CKD Passat to be used by riders, safety marshals and the police.
“Volkswagen Malaysia is honored to be a part of this year’s Tour De Langkawi 2016 – one of Malaysia’s prestigious sporting events. We are also very pleased that our locally assembled Passat, which comes packed with world-class safety features, will play a vital role in keeping the event, delegates and officials as well as the riders safe while on the race,” said Armin Keller, MD of VGM.
Malaysia’s top cycling event, the Tour de Langkawi is a multiple stage race held annually since 1996. It features 10 stages over the course of 10 days, including a gruelling climb up Genting Highlands.

What a disgrace. Instead of giving their existing customers who are cing non stop breakdowns 10 year warranty, they spend money on stupid things like this.
VGM, please have some honour and compensate every single DSG customer in Malaysia who bought your cars 8 years ago until now, 2016.
its not spending money. the cars are already in the stockyard which are unsold units of 2015.

Let me remind everybody here, please tell everybody you know about DSG. Let VGM suffer. Even with continuous breakdowns, they increase their prices. That is arrogance.
DSG cannot be sold in Malaysia as DSG is inherently faulty in hot countries. This has been confirmed by VW AG.

VW is doing this cause nobody buying the passats. So much of stock. Cannot sell. Now the new junk also has come out. B9 I think they call it. So, don’t think VGM is so kind to sponsor this event.
Also, after the event, 190 Passats will go into the market to further drop RV of existing VW cars. Yahoo!

30 million people in the country, how many people are actually the target customers for these cars? The market is small here, but so many models… Accord, Camry, Sonata, Passat, Mondeo, Optima, Mazda6, plus all the SUVs… so many choices, plus the manufacturer needs to produce (CKD) or import (CBU) many units for scale. The market can’t absorb it all.
It’s not a Passat or VW problem, it’s a market problem plus the tax and duties on top. First one or two years depreciation from your purchase price is just the taxes. Good idea to buy a one year old or pre-registered car, or even the many new units of Passat year-make 2014. From RM174k reduced to RM130k or less. That is closer to real value of the car after all the taxes gone.

These cars are often refurbished and sold at a discount. Ford had a similar campaign in 2013, knocking almost RM20,000 off the Focus.

I am wondering whether it is a comment or statement. i hope those comments about the gearbox better be a drivers of volkswagen cars as if not, you guys are hearing and talking without fact. for example, your neighbour’s wife is cheating on his hubby whereas it was just a plumber who came to fix a pipe. and you tell your neighbour about his wife that she was giving the plumber a good time that you hear she scream through the wall. stupid right?
