Mercedes-Benz Malaysia teases W213 E-Class

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has revealed a new microsite teasing the arrival of the W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class – the tenth generation of the three-pointed star’s executive sedan should make its way here soon.

Expect the Malaysian-market W213 E-Class to only be offered in a sole 184 hp/300 Nm E 200 variant with a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder, as it is the sole petrol variant in production so far. Later on, world markets will get a 245 hp E 300, as well as a 333 hp E 400 with a 3.0 litre turbo V6, although it is unclear if any of these will be offered here.

Based on the Modular Rear Architecture (MRA) shared with the C-Class, the new E-Class’s more voluptuous styling and S-Class-esque interior hides a number of key features, including new 84-LED Multibeam headlights, the Digital Car Key function that turns your smartphone into a key via Near Field Communication (NFC), a new COMAND interface as well as touch pads on the steering wheel to control various functions.

Plenty of other technologies are included, such as a new Remote Parking Pilot system that enables the car to autonomously move in and out of a parking space (controlled using a smartphone), Active Brake Assist, Evasive Steering Assist which detects and assists evasive steering manoeuvres, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Pre-Safe Plus and more.

Notably, the Pre-Safe system has been updated with new Impulse side (uses seat bolsters to push occupants away from a side impact to provide more survival space) and Sound (primes the ears for a loud crash using a short interference signal if the car detects an imminent collision) capabilities. Of course, we have no idea if any of these features will be fitted locally until the launch.
