The Mercedes-AMG E 63 hasn’t even been unveiled yet, and already the boys at Affalterbach are working on a more potent version of the super exec. Our European spy photographers have caught the Black Series version in wagon guise, and as you can see, it’s been given a mean makeover.
As with the standard E 63, the Black Series sports an aggressive front end design with the trademark AMG “A-wing” air intake design, as well as an enormous rear diffuser with quad exhaust exits. The difference lies in the massive wheel arches, which has been stretched even further than the already wide regular AMG model, to fit the broader track and stickier tyres.
Under the bonnet, expect the 4.0 litre biturbo V8 – which has already seen service in the AMG GT and C 63 – to be massaged to produce between 25 to 50 hp more than the standard E 63. That’s some power hike, especially when you consider that the latter is already projected to produce upwards of 600 hp to take the fight to the next-generation F90 BMW M5.
Like the C 63, the engine is expected to be mated to a seven-speed AMG Speedshift MCT automatic transmission, and given that the regular E 63 is slated to be offered exclusively with a 4Matic all-wheel drive system, it’s almost certain that the Black Series will follow suit.
