For this year’s New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), Toyota will unveil a new concept dubbed the FT-4X, and has released this lone teaser image to go along with the announcement. Rumours are suggesting that this could be a preview of a FJ Cruiser replacement, which ended its 10-year run back in August 2016.
In the image, we are shown one of the concept’s 18-inch wheels, which are wrapped with Goodyear rubber (225/55), along with orange accents on the body as well as the wheel hub caps. Toyota is coining the phrase “Four Wheeling. Scene Stealing.” for the concept, so four-wheel drive will most likely be featured her as well.
Toyota is keeping mum on other details of its concept, including what will lay under the hood. The original FJ Cruiser was equipped with a 1GR-FE 4.0 litre naturally-aspirated V6, and is based on a shortened Land Cruiser Prado.
Should a new version of the retro-inspired SUV be made, expect a downsized motor to be employed instead. We’ll have to wait for Toyota to reveal more information about the FT-4X Concept at the NYIAS, so stay tuned.
