F90 BMW M5 face shown in Need for Speed: Payback

The front fascia of the F90 BMW M5 has been revealed as part of a teaser for the upcoming Need for Speed: Payback. The latest entry in Electronic Arts’ long-running racing game franchise will feature the new super sedan when it hits store shelves on November 10.

As expected, the new M5 carries an aggressive front end featuring the usual BMW M design cues, including a double-slatted front grille and a massive U-shaped lower air intake flanked by protruding side inlets. You can also spot the large seven-spoke alloy wheels and the M5-badged front fender vents that sit aft of them.

Plenty of details have already been divulged by BMW ahead of its official debut later this year. The 4.4 litre twin-turbo V8 from the current F10 model has been retained, but the mill has been massaged to produce around 600 hp and over 700 Nm of torque.

Even bigger news is the addition of M xDrive all-wheel drive for the first time – which is rear-biased and can be switched between 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD modes – as well as an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission to replace the outgoing seven-speed M DCT (dual-clutch transmission). As such, the new M5 will go from zero to 100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds, nearly a whole second quicker than the F10.

Comments

 • Sad to say the current G30 5 series’s frontal design, especially the headlights are hardly sporty enough for the M version. The previous F10’s front/headlights were much better suited for the super sedan look.
