Volkswagen ‘Polo P’ project – new locations added

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) is continuing its Polo P project with new locations in the Klang Valley as well as in the Northern and Southern region.

The goal of the Polo P project is to educate and empower new drivers with the skills and knowledge to stay safe on the roads. Taking place at selected college and university campuses, over 250 students have participated in the project since it was launched in March this year.

Over the course of a weekend, participants are taught basic car maintenance, visual checkpoints, proper sitting and steering positions, and defensive driving which includes emergency braking, and a slalom course.

All driving exercises are conducted in the Volkswagen Polo 1.6L hatchback, which is powered by a 1.6 litre MPI engine with 105 PS and 153 Nm of torque. It “might be small in stature, but is certainly big on fun,” as VPCM describes it.

The Polo P project will head to Taylor’s Lakeside Campus on July 8-9, followed by Sunway College (Johor Bahru) on August 19-20, Universiti Malaysia (KL) on September 30 to October 1, UiTM (Shah Alam) on October 21-22, and finally UTAR Campus Kampar (Perak) on October 28-29. For more information, head on over to Volkswagen Malaysia’s official website.

  • Dear students… once you graduate, please look at the more economical options like locals and jap cars..

Conti cars are not for the ordinaries in Msia.. although some models might look cheap in pricing, but the servicing, repairing, parts and reliability issues which only the affluent ones can afford..

There is a reason why Conti cars dont sell well in Msia

The new dealer of VW cars is doing a fantastic job at restoring public confidence in the brand. Now we can see many Tiguan”s and Passats on the road, whuch was not the case under the previous management that wanted volume sales at the expense of parts and after sales standards. Now VW Passenger Cars has added many service centres throughout Malaysia, is building VWs biggest parts centre in SEA right here in Johor and taking concrete steps to get the world’s no 1 car brand back to the top in the Malaysian market. Kudos. As a recent buyer, my two neighbours have also followed suit and bought VW cars because we are seeing change happening. Even car workships are now saying positive things about VW cars which were shunnes by workshops and car bloggers alike just two years ago. This is good change. VW – Keep it up if you wish to see people coming back to your brand. Do not screw up again!

    • Ben Yap. Your Ah Beng mentality is dying. Notice less people sell pirated DVDs now. Same with Japanese cars. Less people buying them now as first cars.

VW can forget about selling more cars, just ask the present VW owners how many have extremely bad experience with their service. After this all will swithch back to Jap’s models, i will rather buy Lexus, thank you VW

I say Bravo to VPCM for coming out with such a programme to educate the young students on the finer points of a car & get to learn Defensive driving at the same time.

Any company who come out with a CSR project to educate & empower new drivers with the skills & knowledge to stay safe on the roads deserved my applause.

Good job VW. Hopefully, there will be more car company coming out to do the same CSR for the sake of our young people & Nation. Selamat Hari Raya to all our Muslims Bros & Sisters.
