For the first time in the 14-year history of paultan.org, we gave our readers the opportunity to experience two plug-in hybrids – the Volvo S90 T8 Twin Engine Inscription Plus and Mercedes-Benz W213 E 350e – in the metal. Traditionally, we bring you the reviews, but this time it’s the other way round!
The Meet and Greet took place at the Driven Studios in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, where readers spent half a day being intimate with both cars. To be specific, the models on display were the E 350e AMG Line, which costs RM395,888, and the S90 T8 Inscription Plus, priced at RM388,888. The Mercedes was fitted with the Night Package (which nets a high-gloss black finish to the exterior instead of chrome), hence the more imposing look.
Between conversations, readers were asked at random (and voluntarily, might I add) to provide their first impressions, and ultimately decide which between the two was their pick. Are the responses surprising? Find out in the full video above, and don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments section below as well.
For those who had missed out on the opportunity, don’t worry, your time might come soon, because there will be many more Meet and Greet sessions to come – we promise :).

(Like) Mercedes E350e
(Dislike) Volvo S90 T8
Why compare 2 cars at different category? Shall bring in Bmw and Audi
Dude they are in the same category
3-stars is PT team’s choice. Full stop!
Have not seen a single s90 on the road but i see more passat.
You thought S90 is under S Class category is it?
That full tray of karipap makes me immediately went to cafe and have a breakfast. I did saw W213, there is a special matte that looks stunning. Interior wise, prefer S90, the long screen in W213 is a bit odd. Lack of mechanical instrument.
Imagine dashboard with three rings or two. I’ll go for the two. Unless the three focused RPM in the centre then it will be more favourable
Mesidis becomes more modern while other cars remain ahpek. Oh the irony.
Volvo, Mercedes, Geely > all
BMW 5 series hybrid way cheaper. RM50k cheaper.
Of course its cheaper.
BMW 530e is a lower variant compared to Merc E350e.
Mercedes E350e equivalent should be BMW 535e.
With the low kit level of the new BMW 530e,
it is fortunate BMW wasn’t involved. It would have been trashed.
By the way, I am a Bimmer fan who is just super disappointed at the spec sheet of the 530e.
