GIIAS 2018: Ignis Suzuki Sport amps up the cool

Apart from the previewed new Jimny, there were no brand new models at Suzuki’s 2018 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) stand, but a range of Suzuki Sport edition models. You’ve seen the dressed up Ertiga, now here’s the Ignis Suzuki Sport.

It has been around for a few years now, but the Suzuki Ignis is still my (unachievable) daily runabout dream. Launched in April 2017 in Indonesia, the Ignis receives a Suzuki Sport edition that amps up the cool. Available in three colours – white, black and blue, with matching decals – the Ignis Suzuki Sport adds on a bodykit, rear spoiler and one of the coolest LED daytime running light designs.

The LED DRLs aren’t located within the headlamp cluster, as we’ve seen before, but are instead integrated into the grille. Those chrome wings flanking the S badge now double up as light bars, which are bound to give the sporty Ignis a distinctive night signature. No changes inside, bar embroidered Suzuki Sport logos on the front seats.

The 3.7m featherweight (840 to 860 kg) is powered by a 1.2 litre four-cylinder engine with 83 PS and 113 Nm of torque. The K12M VVT motor is paired to a five-speed manual and a five-speed AGS automated manual gearbox with manual mode. We’ve also included a few images of an Ignis Rally concept in the gallery below.
