The first two months of 2019 have been fruitful for Perodua, as the national carmaker managed to deliver nearly 37,400 vehicles, which represents a 7.3% year-on-year increase from the corresponding period last year (34,800 units).
“The heightened sales performance is a result of our efforts to further improve our delivery times. While we defer to the Malaysian Automotive Association’s numbers, we estimate our year-to-date market share to stand at 41%,” said Datuk Dr Zahari Husin, managing director at Perodua Sales.
According to the company, 15,000 Myvis, 10,100 Axias, 5,900 Bezzas, 3,600 Aruz and 2,700 Alzas were sold from January to February this year. Production during this period also saw an increase of 6.2% to 36,500 units, from 34,375 units in the same period last year.
Zahari also stated that its newest model, the Aruz, notched up over 13,000 bookings since its launch debut in January, with the AV variant accounting for 85% of bookings (remainder goes to the X).
“We have adjusted our production to reduce the waiting time for the Aruz. This will continue in March as well. We are thankful for your support and your patience, and look forward to serving you for many years to come,” said Zahari.
