The G06 BMW X6 has been supposedly leaked ahead of its official debut, with photos of the Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) surfacing on Instagram recently. Compared to the second-generation (F16) model, the new G06 looks to command a greater road presence with its heavily revised styling.
These photos appear to show the M Performance version of the M6 – likely the M50i – which will reportedly pack a 4.4 litre twin-turbo V8 (530 PS and 750 Nm) also found in the 7 Series (750i) and 8 Series (M850i). A full-on M model called the X6 M is said to get a more powerful version of the mill, with outputs closer to those of the M5 (600 PS and 750 Nm).
As far as styling goes, the X6 gets a larger kidney grille than before, with the two elements conjoined in the middle. Curiously, the grille appears to be offered with illumination, which is something of an acquired taste.
The coupe-like roofline remains present here, while the side Air Breathers appear to be better integrated into the bodywork for a more seamless look than its predecessor. Around the back, there are significantly smaller taillights in the guise of those on the X4, accompanied by prominent side outlets on the bumper and angular liftgate.
The M Sport package that is present here also includes sportier-looking bumpers, with the one at the front featuring large corner intakes and a centre section that is reminiscent of the current X5. There’s also a set of blue-painted M brake calipers and five twin-spoke alloys to match.
No photos of the interior were posted, but based on past spyshots, the X6 shares a similar dashboard layout to the X5, with many of the switchgear and screens being carried over wholesale.
Of course, while these photos appear to be very convincing, we’ll remain cautious and await BMW to actually unveil its new SAC, which will apparently take place very soon. For now, do you like what you see?
