The official introduction of the 2019 Perodua Axia is around the corner, and ahead of its debut, the updated hatchback has been partially revealed via a video ad, which was aired during the Big Stage 2019 concert on Astro Gempak over the weekend.
The video teases the car in quick fashion, and we get to see the face of the new SUV-inspired variant called the Axia Style, albeit through a partial glimpse. The model features SUV-style black plastic cladding around the fenders (which can be seen very very briefly in a frame) and lower body, with silver painted sections at the lower front and rear bumpers that mimic skid plates.
The Style’s front end is dressed with black carbon-textured stickers, and the model also gets a unique dotted grille insert and an exclusive Style colour, in this case orange. Also finding its way on are decorative black roof rails. The Style sits taller than the rest of the range by 15 mm, as a result of 15-inch alloys (an inch up) and thicker tyres, along with the the aforementioned roof rails.
Inside, the Style features seats upholstered in a unique “denim” fabric, which has a “fish scale” pattern and contrast stitching. The automaker is expecting the Style to do well, anticipating that 20% to 25% of total Axia sales will come from it.
The Axia has been around since 2014, and received a midlife facelift in early 2017. Versions up to now have had two unique faces, a normal one and a sportier one for the SE and Advance, but all Axia variants now share a common face with the 2019 update, with trim denoting the differences of each.
The outgoing Axia range had four trim levels (E, G, SE, Advance), but this will now be expanded to six with the addition of GXtra and Style variants. No changes to the running gear – the 1KR-VE 1.0 litre three-pot VVT-i mill continues on with 67 hp and 91 Nm, and it’s available with either a five-speed manual or four-speed auto transmission.
Safety-wise, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) makes its debut in the Axia, available from the GXtra up, while the automaker’s Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0 safety suite also finds its way on, although only on the range-topping Advance variant.

The real game changer! Abislah iriz..
There is a reason why Perodua sales is 4X more than Proton. Nothing to do with the cars. Just that Malaysians like to support a company that makes money. Perodua until today never take 1 sen of bailout money from the Government.
Proton until today already taken RM20 billion in bailouts and pay no company tax the past 20 years because not making money.
Perodua has been giving RM billions per year in company tax for the building of the nation

Wow, everyday spreading lies and slander. Do you have no fear of karma? Better repent before too late, tikus.
With a crossover design on this game changer, people will most likely cancel their Saga FL booking and book this game changer instead. Again, we will see Perodua sales 4X more than Proton.
Hard to believe that is true. If you say “people will cancel their Iriz booking”, I might slightly believe you. You see, when people want to buy a Saga, that means they wanted a large boot space. What could be the most logical reason to downgrade the boot space?
Proton Saga more spacious wiv much bigger boot
Yeah the Saga no advance driver assists so it can be cheap-cheap too but I don’t think anyone’s life is as cheap as the Saga so if yours is cheap then Saga is your choice.
why compare sedan saga with axia compact? have a driver assist or not, depend on the driver how to drive it safely. driver assist just a system to help a driver when he/she not focust on the driving. overall, it is driver responsible to make sure they don’t involve in accident. that’s all.
btw, did you ever see saga accident upside down?
so far i know, axia and myvi happen to accident like that. so, that the proof of it on the driver responsible at all.
No matter what driver assist u have in your car. Other drivers may make mistakes on the road including drivers which cars are equipped with ADAS. In the even this happens its safer to be in a saga compared to a axia.
Previous Axia also no ADAS, still people praise like hell…Now Proton no ADAS, bark like hell… That is how biased MOST TYPICALS are. IRONY at its best…
Shot fired
67hp, 91Nm….. meter reading up to 200kmh…
Perodua logic….dont question it
I mean… I dont know what is its top speed, but I’ve driven it before with speeds up to 160kmh stock hahaha
But hor, previous 1st gen myvi 1.0 litre lagi geng hor… 58hp, 88Nm….. but meter reading up to 220kmh…
Want teaser for what. Axia only
Tikus will buy this Axia tikus
I think he prefers his imaginary 2008 Myvi and brand new Iriz.
And… Still no temperature gauge…
yay! myvi se is back!
wait..axia?
Disappointed with that old myvi look
How does it feel when Axia hit the tacho limit? 200kph??
Perodua should’ve use this opportunity to include eco-idle on the Axia. Imagine how much more fuel can be saved while idling at traffic lights. Daihatsu Mira already has this feature with their 660cc turbo engine. Sure, aircond will stop and can feel a bit of vibration when engine restarts, but the implementation of eco-idle on the myvi is already very good. As a passenger you really have to pay attention to feel when the engine does restart. A drastic improvement from my first experience with eco-idle/eco stop on the F30 320d five years ago, the whole car shakes when the engine restarts. Really wouldn’t mind paying a little more for this feature. Stuck too long at USJ and Shah Alam traffic lights if only my 2018 Axia had eco-idle. Save the environment sommore now jerebu like what.
