Toyota Australia has upgraded the multimedia systems for the new Prius, Corolla hatchback, Camry, and all-new Granvia to support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionalities, and the upgrade is free of charge for those who buy the cars from November 1, 2019.
This includes the all-new HiAce and RAV4 models as well, although existing owners of the aforementioned models can have their multimedia systems upgraded for a small fee of AUD199 (RM573). The new system will be standard on the all-new Corolla sedan and C-HR facelift that will be launched soon.
Toyota Australia vice president sales and marketing, Sean Hanley said the availability of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will offer customers the ability to access a number of apps on their mobile devices in a safe and convenient way.
“By offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility in our vehicles, we are continuing to refine our market offerings and provide our customers with the products and services that enhance their lives. The technology will allow our customers to stay informed, entertained and in touch with the wider world from behind the wheel, directly through the vehicles’ upgraded multimedia systems,” he said.
Meanwhile, in Malaysia, only the Fortuner and Innova models come with the new 9.0-inch infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
