Sime Darby Motors has announced it has sold over 10,000 BYD vehicles in Malaysia. The achievement comes two years after it was first revealed the company would be an official BYD distributor in September 2022.
“Our commitment to providing the best experience and services through this strategic partnership with BYD has contributed to this success,” said Jeffrey Gan, managing director of Southeast Asia, Sime Darby Motors.
“This milestone reflects the trust and support of our customers who embrace the future of mobility with BYD. It’s been an incredible journey with Sime Darby Motors and we look forward to elevating sustainable driving experiences in Malaysia,” commented Eagle Zhao, managing director of BYD Malaysia.
To celebrate the milestone, the company organised a convoy drive for BYD owners to Melaka, which was chosen to coincide with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China given its historical connections with China dating back to the 15th century.
Moving forward, the company aims to reach the next 10,000 cars in a shorter timeframe, with plans to expand BYD’s footprint in Malaysia to 30 showrooms by the end of this year. At present, there are 26 BYD showrooms nationwide, including 16 3S and 10 1S centres, operated by 19 dealer partners.

Why is BYD not building their own charging points? It’s time for BYD to do that..
same logic as asking toyota or honda to build their own petrol station
