MADANI special number plate series collects RM2.6 million; significantly less than other special plate runs

Bidding for the MADANI special series of number plates has ended October 23, with RM2.6 million in revenue generated from sales of plates from this series, transport minister Anthony Loke said, reported New Straits Times.

“We have raised a total of RM2.6 million as of to date. The statement regarding the bidding results would be issued soon,” Loke said. Bidding for the plate series opened on Saturday, October 19, with a minimum bid of RM100 for running numbers, while the minimum bid for popular numbers was set at RM500.

However, the sum collected by the MADANI special plate series is very low compared to other official JPJ special plate runs. According to JPJ, the special series is a government initiative to support the MADANI Malaysia agenda by promoting civic values.

Proceeds from sales of the plates in this series would be used to realise the implementation of initiatives under the transport ministry such as the MyLesen programme, the Helmet Exchange Program, FlySISWA, Socso payments to taxi drivers and various other initiatives.

The GOLD special series that was released to commemorate the 50th Federal Territories Day collected over RM17 million from more than 23,000 bidders, including the leading plate GOLD 1 which belongs to DYMM Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, who put in a bid of RM1.5 million for the plate.

The M_M special plate series – which stands for ‘Malaysia Merdeka’ – offered regular running numbers from RM300, up to a minimum mid for top-tier ‘golden numbers’ from RM20k. This series collected RM20 million from a total of 25,033 bidders, from which 6,872 bidders won their desired plates. The top bid was for M1M, which went for RM622k.

In May 2023, the FF series of plates collected a total of RM34.2 million, surpassing that of the aforementioned GOLD series of plates. In terms of price, the FF plate series was topped by FF8, which collected RM950k, followed by FF9 which collected RM912k. The remaining three of the top five FF plates each collected more than RM600k.

As of October 2022, the JPJ eBid online vehicle number plate bidding system collected RM286 million from 124 series of number plates, with an average of RM2.3 million collected per series released.

Probably not sold through bid but by running numbers. Pity those didn’t know they’re getting this ultra long number plate.

    1) People don’t like that word and also the present
    2) People has less money now to spend on now
    2) Less corruption so those people unwilling to spend on nonsensical stuff even those special T5 never need to pay taxes.

Even the menteris don’t bid it since they get 20% mandatory salary cut plus another 20% salary cut for PKR’s menteris mandatory contribution to party. With only 60% paycheck left, and for PM, he don’t take his salary.

this shows that malaysians are not impressed with the Madani government. People don’t want Madani number plates because they are expecting the madani government will be only here for 1 term.

It’s merely a ploy for Tony Loke Chat to brown-nose his boss. Doesn’t matter if it doesn’t make money, he gets a Kaki Bodek trophy.

RM 2.6Million collection reflects the supports towards MADANI. It is not difficult to figure out whether this is a good or bad thing for MADANI Government.

Good luck and see you in next GE.
