BMW Group Malaysia has announced it will supply an electric vehicle (EV) fleet to the government to support Malaysia’s ASEAN chairmanship in 2025.
Throughout the year, the government’s fleet will include the BMW i7 xDrive60 M Sport as well as the i5 eDrive40 M Sport. At present, there are seven BMW EVs on sale in Malaysia. These include the i4, i5, i7, iX1, iX2, iX3 and iX, all of which are fully-imported (CBU) offerings.
According to the company, this initiative aligns with the nation’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) while also supporting the chairmanship’s theme of ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability’.

Electric vehicles represent a critical step forward in reducing emissions and advancing the adoption of sustainable technologies across the ASEAN region,” the company said in its release.

Reason number 1. Register as many cars so that included in the MAA sales report. Then sell those cars as pre-reg/pre-owned cars still with long warranty and genuine super low mileage.
Reason number 2. Whatever lost is car values would be translated as cost of marketing/advertising. Most importantly is exposure and real life experience.
Especially since BMW Malaysia is some sort of subisidiary to BMW AG, headquarters wouldn’t mind to contribute a sum as part of promotional activities.
