  We’re just a day away from the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE), which takes place this July 19-20 weekend at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC), from 9am to 7pm on both days.

Then opt for the Premium, which packs a 313 PS/360 Nm motor, with the RWD variant offering up to 570 km (WLTP) of travel from its 82.5 kWh Blade LFP battery.

  

  If you decide on the range-topping Performance, you’ll find a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain offeiring 530 PS/670 Nm and a 3.8 seconds 0-100 km/h acceleration time. It also features a 82.5 kWh battery pack, providing up to 520 km of range (WLTP) on a single charge.

  Besides BYD, participating car brands that will be present at PACE 2025 will include BMW and MINI (both represented by Auto Bavaria), Mercedes-Benz (represented by Hap Seng Star), Audi, Denza, Xpeng, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, GWM, GAC and Zeekr. There will also be premium motorcycles from BMW Motorrad at the show, with Kineta and Trapo also set to be at the SCCC.

  In addition to the attractive deals being offered by each of the brands, purchasing at PACE comes with added benefits. • Zeekr 7X EV crossover on show, promo at PACE 2025

  If you’ve been keenly eyeing the Zeekr 7X, you’ll be able to explore the all-electric crossover in detail at the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) 2025 that’s happening this weekend, July 19 and 20, at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC).

  The Zeekr 7X hasn’t been officially launched yet, but it won’t be long now before it makes its market entry. The order books have already been opened for the car, with the RWD Standard going for RM182,000, the RWD Long Range at RM195,000 and the AWD Performance for RM230,000 under a special launch pricing announced for it.

  On top of the special price, if you book a 7X at the show with Carro Retail, you’ll get a free 22 kW wallbox charger and free premium window tint when you register your vehicle.

  

  The single-motor RWD versions are powered by a 421 PS/440 Nm unit on the rear axle, paired with a 75 kWh LFP battery for the base variant and a 100 kWH NMC unit for the Long Range. The top dual-motor version called the AWD Performance for our market packs a combined 646 PS and 710 Nm, and attains a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3.8 seconds.

  Official charging input figures haven’t been revealed, but they will be closer to when the official Malaysian launch of the 7X takes place. Meanwhile, interior highlights include a 13.02-inch digital instrument cluster display, a 16-inch mini-LED infotainment touchscreen and dual Qi wireless chargers.

  You’ll also find a 21-speaker sound system with headrest speakers, Nappa leather upholstery and powered seats in front and at the rear, the latter offering up to 10 degrees of adjustable recline. But there’s nothing like viewing and checking it our for yourself, so come check it out at PACE this weekend.

  Just a couple more days more before the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) takes place, with the show, co-sponsored by Carro and RHB Bank, set to run from July 19-20 at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC) from 9am to 7pm on both days.

  This consists of a 154 hp (156 PS) 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol mill paired with two electric motors, a 174 hp (177 PS, or 130 kW) unit at the front and an 181 hp (183 PS, or 135 kW) unit at the rear, to offer a combined system output of 480 hp (487 PS or 358 kW) and 762 Nm. Visitors will be among the first to get up close with the MPV before its market debut, so that’s absolutely one more reason to be at PACE.

  Joining the proceedings this year is GAC, which comes to the event with offers on a selection of its models. Offering a battery range of 490 km (NEDC) for your zero-tailpipe-emissions travels, the Aion Y Plus is covered by an eight-year, 160,000 km vehicle warranty, as well as an eight-year, 200,000 km warranty on its battery, drive motor and electronics.

  Bringing modern styling to the segment, the Aion Y Plus packs a front-mounted motor delivering 204 PS and 225 Nm of torque, propelling the EV from 0-100 km/h in 8.5 seconds. Its 63.2 kWh Magazine Battery 2.0 is a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit enabling up to 430 km of range on the WLTP cycle, and this can be recharged at up to 80 kW DC, or 6.6 kW with AC charging.

It’s the first SL since the R129 to have a soft top (opens electrically in 15 seconds up to 60 km/h) and two rear seats. • GWM Wey 80 PHEV to be on full display at PACE 2025

  It has just been revealed that the GWM Wey 80 will be on full display at the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) 2025, happening this weekend July 19 and 20 at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC). The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) MPV on show will be a right-hand drive (RHD) unit too – shown for the first time ever – so what you see will be what you’ll eventually get when it’s launched later this year.

  The Wey 80 was previously previewed at the 2024 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) last December, but in LHD form and in an older pre-updated guise inside and out. The new display car on show this weekend is expected to be the latest version of the MPV, which just debuted in April at Auto Shanghai 2025.

  In China, the new Wey 80 is powered by an updated Hi4 (Hybrid intelligent 4WD) system, with a 170 PS/245 Nm 1.5 litre turbo four-cylinder engine, a 109 PS/170 Nm electric motor and a four-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), plus another 184 PS/232 Nm motor driving the rear wheels. Total system output is 458 PS and 644 Nm of torque, with a 51.55 kWh NMC battery giving a WLTP-rated electric range of 201 km, leading to a total range of 963 km.

  If you are still unsure that the all-electric Denza D9, Zeekr 009 and Xpeng X9 would be an ideal alternative to a Toyota Alphard or Vellfire, perhaps the PHEV GWM Wey 80 would make for an appealing best-of-both-worlds choice. It will be locally-assembled in Melaka too, so it should be priced competitively. Check it out at PACE 2025 this weekend.

• BYD Atto 2 to be previewed in Malaysia at PACE 2025

  The BYD Atto 2 will be previewed for the first time in Malaysia at the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) 2025, happening this weekend July 19 and 20 at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC). This much has been revealed by BYD Cars Malaysia’s official Facebook page (see below).

  This will provide prospective customers an early viewing of the new compact EV before its official launch on July 24. Understood to effectively replace the Dolphin in BYD’s local range, the Atto 2 will naturally slot in under the best-selling Atto 3 SUV. The latter, in its latest Ultra form, is priced at RM118,800, so expect the junior crossover to be even more affordable.

  While local specs have not been revealed yet, it should mirror what has been shown in Australia, with a 177 PS/290 Nm motor matched to a 51.1 kWh LFP battery, which would provide around 350 km of WLTP range. That’s certainly more useful than the smaller 45.12 kWh battery pack offered in China, which is good for only 312 km (WLTP).

  The only question is, how much will it be? We will likely have to wait until the launch date for the answer, but if you’re even remotely interested in the BYD Atto 2, head on over to PACE 2025 this weekend to see it first. Free entry for all.
