Detroit 2013: Volkswagen Touareg R-Line package

Volkswagen will be exhibiting the new R-Line package for the Volkswagen Touareg at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show. We’ve already seen the R-Line package for the current generation Touareg two years ago, and it’s only going on sale in the US this year.

Nevertheless, there’s no such thing as too late as we’ve yet to see it’s introduction in Malaysia either. The R-Line package was offered on the last generation Touareg in our local market. For the current generation, there has been no formal packaging of the R-Line looks in a Touareg variant but there’s always the possibility of you fitting it if you want to cough up the dough.

The R-Line pack is offered on all Touareg models except the Touareg Hybrid. The kit adds an aggressive exterior appearance distinguished by 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels; a unique front bumper fascia; side skirts; R-Line badges; LED taillights; and oval-shaped dual exhaust tips at the rear. Inside, the R-Line theme continues with unique high-gloss black and brushed aluminum trim on the dashboard, center console and doors. Stainless-steel R-Line scuff plates, aluminum sport pedals, and an R-Line steering wheel round out the model’s interior enhancements.

Unlike the Passat CC R-Line which has a high performance 3.6 litre motor, the R-Line pack for the Touareg is more of an appearance and suspension upgrade. I wonder if Volkswagen will eventually add a super Touareg to the current generation’s model lineup. Anyone remember the last generation Touareg’s high performance petrol W12 and diesel V10 engines?
