With the introduction of Think Blue. – National Challenge 2013, Volkswagen Malaysia has brought the exciting Think Blue. World Championship to our country for the first time – but what is the “Think Blue.” concept all about?
“Think Blue.” lies at the very heart of Volkswagen’s ethos that champions the call for reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions across the globe through its eco-friendly products and solutions. It is about sustainability and environmental responsibility – not just in our cars, but in everything we do, every day.
For this German automaker, sustainability is not just a word, but a corporate objective that it takes very seriously – which combines environmental protection and automotive progress to bring drivers low-emission vehicles. So how did the “Think Blue.” way of life actually start?
For such a current, forward-looking idea, it’s hard to imagine that it all began over 50 years ago with “Think small”, which was used by Volkswagen in the US to launch the Beetle in 1959. Then, when the Camper, a compact vehicle spacious enough for eight people, was introduced as a thought to efficient mobility, “Think small” slowly evolved and expanded into “Think Blue.” The rest, was history made.
In 1999, the Lupo was introduced, managing a fuel economy of 3.0 litres per 100 km. Following seven years later was Volkswagen’s first direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine: TSI.
In Malaysia, “Think Blue.” was rolled out with the introduction of core technologies such as TSI and DSG in Volkswagen’s product line up. TSI and DSG represent the automaker’s downsizing strategy of offering maximum power and torque with minimum fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The TSI engine has won “Engine of the Year” for the eighth consecutive time in the 1.0 to 1.4 litre category. As an extension, two additional powertrains, the hybrid and TDI, were also introduced.
Exciting “Think Blue.” times are ahead for Volkswagen. Building low-emission vehicles is just the beginning. “Think Blue.” is an attitude that goes beyond technologies and products. It really is about doing little things that make a big difference.
And now, you can also adopt the “Think Blue.” attitude by becoming Malaysia’s first fuel-efficient champion. Just enter the Volkswagen Think Blue. – National Challenge 2013 before July 21 to stand a chance to represent Malaysia in an international fuel saving challenge in Germany.

Promoting ‘Think Blue’ here?
How about MITI reduce that 75% duty for fuel efficient car first…Very unfair both fuel efficient and inefficient outdated cars also slapped by same 75% tax…
You will be thinking blue with Volkswagen really. When the DSG fails and you have to wait on the road side waiting for your tow truck to come, you will be looking at the blue skies and wondering why you never made the effort to read VW facebook page and take heed of the thousands of complaints about DSG breaking down in Malaysia
Nevermind, in the end not much of these technologies ever land on our soil anyway
Thanks to our incompetant and ignorant G. Just the fuel standards not willing to be upgraded to Euro 4 or 5. Thus closing the door for those advanced technologies coming to this country.
Think Blue is not about thinking of it but doing it..
to G, when are you gonna upgrade our long over due euro5 diesel?
to VGM, when are you bring in TDI and hybrid for small and medium cars?
Dont just Think .. Do it…..
me golf is rather fun to drive… thinking blue is difficult when mashing down the accelerator is just there.
