New BMW Group Corporate Programme – attractive ownership costs and benefits for companies, SMEs

ext BMW X3 xDrive20i (2)

BMW Group Malaysia has introduced its new BMW Group Corporate Programme, under which organisations as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia can buy and own BMW and MINI vehicles at attractive costs of ownership and benefits.

The new Corporate Programme includes a special offering for SMEs, company fleet purchases and renewals as well as multinational companies with worldwide corporate agreements with the BMW Group. These are available on selected models at all authorised BMW and MINI dealers nationwide.

For SMEs, the programme offers a 3% rebate with the minimum purchase of two vehicles and is applicable for SMEs in the manufacturing sector with sales turnover not exceeding RM50 million or full-time employees not exceeding 200 workers as well as SMEs in the services and other sectors with sales turnover of not exceeding RM20 million or full-time employees not exceeding 75 workers.

Meanwhile, public listed companies on the main board as well as subsidiaries of such companies, large firms, multinational corporations (MNCs), government-linked companies (GLCs), Syarikat Menteri Kewangan Diperbadankan (MKDs) and state-owned enterprises can enjoy a 4% rebate for every fleet purchase of four to seven units while companies that buy eight units and more are entitled to a 6% rebate.

Also included are new fleet renewal benefits – companies that have bought four to seven units with the previous agreement can now enjoy a 4% rebate when purchasing an additional one to seven units while companies which have purchased eight or more vehicles will be entitled to a 6% rebate for every vehicle acquired.

Additionally, a 5% rebate is also offered on selected vehicles purchased under the International Supply Agreement with the BMW Group. International Supply Agreements are worldwide corporate partnership agreements the BMW Group has with multinational organisations that operate across multiple locations.

The benefits of the new Corporate Programme are also applicable to spouses of employees in the partner companies, and with BMW Group Malaysia’s approval, the concessions may also be extended to subsidiaries of the parent companies.

In order to enjoy these privileges, corporate customers need to provide supporting documents that include a To Whom It May Concern letter, business card, latest payslip and marriage certificate for units registered under the spouses’ name. The programme is valid for 24 months from the first unit purchased.

As part of the BMW Corporate Programme, customers are also entitled to corporate privileges when a new vehicle is purchased, including:

  • Privileges from BMW Credit (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd: a 3% reduction off the normal loan interest rate on any purchase under the BMW Corporate Programme.
  • BMW Service and Repair Inclusive: all new BMW cars purchased from authorised BMW dealers come with maintenance and repair savings for three years or up to 60,000 kilometres, whichever comes first.
  • MINI Service Inclusive: all new MINI cars purchased from authorised MINI dealers come with maintenance and repair savings for three years or up to 50,000 kilometres, whichever comes first.
  • BMW Driver Training Program at RM888, down from the regular RM1,700.
  • BMW White Card Privileges: exclusive invitations to special events such as product launches, sneak previews, and partner events.

The programme is not applicable for the BMW X1 xDrive20d, the new MINI Cooper three-door (without Chili pack) and any other models sold under promotional offers, duty-free as well as vehicles purchased as part of the MM2H and MREP programmes.

BMW is one con company. The 6% is not worth it when a BMW drops close to RM120,00 in just 10 months time. So staff got no incentive to buy brand new.

A 2014 Pre Reg BMW 520i or a 520d for example is going for RM250,000. Registered in July 2014. Mileage about 2000KM and used by directors. Virtually brand new with their 2 year warranty also.

A brand new BMW 520i is RM370,000. In 7 to 8 months, the car drops RM120,000. So, using my corporate 6% discount is a joke. I might as well by the above pre reg for example.

The biggest joke is that the pre reg prices are all given by BMW Malaysia. BMW Malaysia themselves throw prices. So, if BMW Malaysia is selling their pre reg cars so low, you can imagine what will happen to your brand new BMW’s price.

Be wise. Always buy a pre reg or 2nd hand BMW. Let the first owner bear the RM120,000 depreciation. 2nd year onwards, depreciation slows down to RM20k per year and so on. It is only the first year that a BMW depreciates a lot.

As for companies, don’t fall for this gimmick. Your asset value drops so much. The 6% is nothing.

I got F30 and F10. Both my cars breakdown so often that in a year, my bill for each car is about RM30,000. Outside warranty, everything they handtam puas puas.

My advice to companies, stay away from BMW. IF you keep BMW as your fleet car, it will bleed you badly. Give a monthly staff allowance to your staff and let them buy their own car. That alone, you can save tens of millions per annum

Please help me find a 2nd BMW 7-8 months old for RM120k. I’ll give you a RM30k commission if you really could find one. Thanks

Bravo! Good plan in enticing SME to use BMW as their corporate fleet.

    But still 2 years warranty.

Well. How about 5 years manufacturer warranty period?

Actually, BMW is now not wanted by the corporates, Datuks and Tan Sris. You know why? Very simple. Even the Corporates, Datuks and Tan Sris also want 5 years warranty. Despite their enormous wealth, they still want longer period of warranty and free replacement of parts.

BMW Malaysia is the ONLY car company in the WORLD (not just Malaysia alone) to give their customers a mere 2 years warranty.

All other car manufacturers have upped their warranty to 5 years. Honda, Hyundai, Ford and even Perodua and Proton. Even BMW’s arch rival gives 4 years warranty (double that of BMW)

BMW buyers are now careful. They know, right after 2 years is over, big big problems emerge. Many instances, even gearbox rosak and that alone cost RM50k just for the gearbox.

This is why you often see so many 2013 and 2014 BMWs for sale. The buyers are clever. Right after warranty is over, quickly sell their cars so that, it becomes another person’s problem.

For luxury corporates, it will be cheaper you own a Mercedes. 4 year warranty. 4 years no big bill. For small companies, better you go for Hyundai or Proton, at least you get 5 years worry free.

Short warranty. Poor CKD quality. Rattles everywhere.
        My advice? Look elsewhere.

The design looks good, unfortunately it doesn’t have the quality to back it up. They will use BSRI to persuade you and it might sound like a good deal, until you realise several things

        1) BSRI service interval ( 20,000km ). It has been documented in forums to cause engine problems later on. As a precaution, most official BMW dealers suggest to customers to perform an in between service at 10000km at own cost. If you do not believe me, go ahead and ask them. So much for free Service and Repair.

        2) Although BSRI covers brake disc and pad, you should not need to change them in 60,000km unless you drive in the track every week.

        3) The Repair part in BSRI does not cover interior noise. I had some issues with loud creaking sound when turning, but guess what, BSRI does not cover that.

They have been giving up to 6% corporate discount for quite sometime. For example if you’re working in Maybank you’ll get 6% discount while others like UOB will get you only 4% depending how many vehicles the company buys every year.

I own BMW3.16i year 2014. If you also have one, please check your bluetooth or if you are going to buy one, please check with your dealers for confirmation. My car comes the Bluetooth system but unfortunately when the Bluetooth is engaged, the conversation can be heard from the outside. I raised this with auto Bavaria in June and twice in July. After a final check on 13th and 14th July, I was advised by BMW that my volume was too loud (should be half or below) and the Bluetooth is designed for comfort and security therefore I should adjust my volume instead. This is despite the fact that the service center having tested their other 3.16i and 3.20 in their showroom and confirming similar problem.
BMW will not tell you that the Bluetooth system works this way before you buy the car. I checked other Japanese and continental cars and there is no such problem. Maybe BMW is too advanced for me.

So, be careful when you engage your Bluetooth and make sure you do not engage yourself in P & C conversations otherwise it come be trouble when someone outside your car (for eg your wife) hears it !! I am still getting lots of technical explanations from BMW but still no answer on the bluetooth. Maybe the authorities can help me to confirm if the Bluetooth is really that advance for me or BMW is just trying to avoid admitting something is wrong !
