GALLERY: Volkswagen Beetle Bug Edition previewed – based on 1.2 Sport, limited to 200, coming end-April

Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) is currently holding a press conference at Aloft Kuala Lumpur, and has brought a little surprise in the form of the Volkswagen Beetle Bug Edition, a 200-unit limited-run variant that will be launched later this month; pricing hasn’t yet been revealed for the car.

Based on the higher-spec 1.2 TSI Sport variant, the Bug Edition’s added bits appear to amount to a graphics package – large twin stripes run over the bonnet, roof and tailgate, while the lower flanks get smaller stripes and prominent “Bug” script. There’s also a “Bug” badge at the rear of the car, under the VW badge, as well as “Bug” aluminium side sills.

Otherwise, the kit list looks to be identical to the Sport – bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, 16-inch “Whirl” alloy wheels, dual-zone auto air-con, cruise control, paddle shifters, heated front sports seats with Vienna leather upholstery and a RCD 510 touchscreen radio/CD player.

No changes to the mechanicals either, so under the bonnet resides the same 1.2 turbocharged TSI four-pot delivering 105 PS and 175 Nm, mated to the same seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission as before. Colours available for the Bug Edition are Candy White, Deep Black, Saturn Yellow and Tornado Red.

No idea why people buy VW in Malaysia. It is a low class car in Europe. So low that it is same level as Proton in Malaysia.

But Malaysians bodoh. Spend Rm200k to buy a low class car that VGM promotes as high class.

Beetle and Mini these ‘antique’ cars are good to be displayed at our houses. Desire to possess, collector items.
Or do you think it is nice to drive these vehicles?

DSG so what? Even if it is able to last 8888 miles only, so what?

What is wrong with you jealous people on VW Bettle Bug edition?

This is meant for weekend car drive during nighttime and during no traffic jam. When there is traffic jam, park at the roadside under Parking mode and wait till traffic clear then only drive the 7-speed DSG …… LOL
