Volkswagen is set to introduce a Wolfsburg Edition of the Golf R in Australia – the limited run series will be available in both hatchback and estate forms, the latter as a 200-unit run exclusively in Wolfsburg Edition specification. The wagon made its debut as the Golf R Variant in LA last year.
Both specials add a comprehensive equipment package over the standard Golf R hatch, and these include Carbon Nappa leather appointed upholstery with individually-heated front seats, 19-inch black Pretoria wheels, black door mirror covers and adaptive cruise control.
Available in three exterior colours, the edition also features an iconic ‘wolf and castle’ Wolfsburg crest emblem, and the only item on the options list is a panoramic sunroof.
Equipped with a six-speed DSG and 4Motion all-wheel drive, the Golf R’s 2.0 litre EA888 turbocharged four-cylinder engine’s output for the Australian market has been turned down to 276 hp from the regular 296 hp (300 PS), identical to the Malaysian Golf R‘s output – torque remains unchanged at 380 Nm.
