Honda Malaysia – 43,957 units sold in first half of 2015

Honda HR-V Drive Langkawi 42

Honda Malaysia has managed to sell 43,597 vehicles in the first half of 2015, achieving 51% of its annual sales target of 85,000 units this year. The company currently leads the way in the non-national segment from January to June 2015, accounting for 13.5% of the Total Industry Volume (TIV).

Its current market share marks a considerable 2.3-point improvement compared to the same period last year. On a year-on-year comparison, Honda’s sales increased by 6,408 units or 17% against the 37,189 units sold in the first half of 2014.

The Honda City is currently the best-selling model for Honda Malaysia – contributing 41% to the overall sales – followed by the Jazz at 19% and the HR-V at 17%. Interestingly, the City, Jazz, HR-V, CR-V and Accord are all leading their respective segments as of June 2015.

Positive sales in East Malaysia market also contributed to Honda Malaysia’s robust sales performance nationwide. Sales in this region particularly have increased to 2,390 units in the first six months of 2015 – 32% higher than 1,814 units achieved in the same period last year. Honda Malaysia plans to add three more dealerships in East Malaysia to its existing 10 dealerships by the end of the year.

Recently, the company established a logistics hub in East Malaysia, and is planning to open a regional office, training facilities and parts warehouse in the near future. The company aims to have 90 dealers by 2016, and aims to increase its annual sales to 100,000 units.

I’m not a fans of any Japanese car but one thing I want to point out is those higher range car or MPV i.e. hybrid cars, Alphard, Vellfire, Aeras, Fortuner….. are far more popular and sell-well worldwide compared with what Honda have Elysion, Odyssey…… All these segments are in fact contributing huge revenue to Toyota but not the B, C segment sold here in Malaysia.

Not to mention Honda is missing the market of commercial vehicle. That’s why Toyota is making money and stand steadily at the top of the Japanese car market.

Not to offend Honda fans here but that’s the fact.

Toyota have wider range of conventional cars and commercial vehicles, yet Honda beat Toyota with only conventional cars.
The only thing that keep Toyota above are their own commercial car, if not
        they cannot surpass Honda.

ya, honda dont have hilux, previa, etc. u see on the road, so many hilux, estima, etc. honda have nothing to compete. they only can rely with mostly sedan cars of city, civic, accord. people would choose estima, alphard, vellfire over odyssey..u should know why. eventhough without pickup and varieties of mpv, honda still can break honda record just base on sales of sedan. dont forget about jazz, toyota have nothing to offer in this segment. yaris? naahh. but honda is brilliant, they bring in hrv, nothing can compete even rubbish rush..but mazda can maybe. in the future, i dont know wether this news true or not, crv gonna be a mpy when honda transforms crv from 5 to 7 seater, just wait n see. this gonna boom the sales of crv. cant wait to see crv will be giant like q7. oh, i dont want to talk about hybrid cars.

The next gen civic is just a few clicks away. I wonder what would happen if Honda Malaysia only sells the 1.5L version here. After all the roadtax would be same as a myvi.

Toyota stop dreaming.Wake up.No more under specs Vios. 4 speed auto cannot sell with your price. Up your Vios with at least 5 speed auto or Altis type cvt.If possible with paddle shifters or tiptronic. Honda City shortchanged Malaysian customers with no paddle shifters. Thai specs have paddle shifters.

    • I owned previous model 5speed with paddle shifter but sold it. Most owner agree we don’t need it for tiny engine and even on current model with CVT. Thanks god now they give 6 airbags on V-spec.
Just pray they will throw 1.2Turbo in future model. Game changer ?

the actual fact is – most car owners with paddle shifter will forget the existence of such functions after 1 month buying.

no, they are not race drivers and they spent most of their driving in traffic jams where D is the best choice. paddle shifting is something no one will opt in crawling traffic.

When is Toyota going to come out with the competing B segment hatch and SUV? Please… don’t tell me Avanza is the answer to CRV and HRV. And please don’t tell me Myvi is Toyota answer to Jazz.
such a big hole in the model lineup.

There’s the Yaris (brought in once but priced at 90k, crazy! And 2nd gen is missing) and RAV4 (super handsome but UMW doesn’t wanna sell it here. Dumb ass!).

look back in history – it was Toyota which introduced the compact SUV with RAV4 almost 25 years ago.

honda and landrover followed suit nearly 5 years after (with CRV and Freelander).

Toyota has enjoyed 2 decades of good sales. nah, toyota will not bother with Honda HRV sales in malaysia.

i was thinking that City is so good plus HRV and Accord… that Honda sales are doubling. but sadly, increase was only 17% which translates to extra 6k units. nothing outsanding only marginal.

Malaysia can have a successful local car industry by buying over Honda and rebadge ‘Honda’ to become ‘Proton’.
No need do any research, no need build cars from scratch, just take over Honda.
30 year old problem solved with ONE solution – take over Honda, by force of course
