AC Schnitzer, tinkerers of BMW vehicles, has announced its latest creation – the ACL2, which will make its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The ACL2 is essentially a highly-strung BMW 2 Series coupe, with no relation to that thing in your knee, in case you’re wondering.
And highly-strung it is, with the German tuners proclaiming a 570 hp power output from the car’s heavily-modified engine. Based on the photo of the car’s engine bay, it appears AC Schnitzer has managed to shoehorn the F80 BMW M3’s 3.0 litre twin-turbo inline-six into the 2 Series, complete with the carbon-fibre engine brace. On the M3, the mill produces 425 hp and 550 Nm of torque.
No details on what AC Schnitzer has done to produce all that power, but the tuner promises a power to weight ratio of 2.54 kg/hp. The accompanying photos by the tuner also reveal a hyper-aggressive-looking machine as well.
Fitted with track-inspired accessories and aerodynamic kit, the ACL2 looks like a more menacing version of the BMW M2. Here, the car gets a wide body kit with new bumpers, larger air intakes at the front, side sills, wheel arches and a large fixed rear wing. We’re not sure about the retro green paintjob, but those two-tone five twin-spoke alloy wheels look tempting.
It’s quite a lot to take in when you step into the ACL2’s cabin as well. Aside from the abundant AC Schnitzer badging, there are new pedals, seats, gear knob, handbrake grip, trim pieces and many more. The steering wheel is a particular point of focus, resembling something the Predator would use.
More details of AC Schnitzer’s ACL2 will be released when the car makes its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. For now, savour the photos and lovely engine note from the teaser video. Interested?
