2016-Toyota-Etios-facelift-1

A brochure of the new Toyota Etios facelift in Brazil has been revealed ahead of the model’s debut set for April 28. For those unfamiliar with the model, the Etios is a compact four-door sedan that is officially sold in India, South Africa, Brazil and Indonesia (as a hatchback). It competes with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Indigo Manza and Mahindra Verito.

Uncovered by Autos Segredos, the leaked documents show that the Etios facelift will feature no exterior changes, save for new wheel options. The majority of the model’s updates surround its new instrument panel and powertrain options.

Inside, the analogue instruments have been swapped out for a new digital arrangement which maintains its position in the centre of the dash. There’s also a new cruise control function, along with Isofix child seat anchors, head restraints and three-point seat belts for the second row middle seat passenger.

Improved versions of the 1.3 litre Dual VVT-i and 1.5 litre Dual VVT-i flex-fuel have been confirmed — both offering 9% better fuel efficiency than before. Additionally, the 1.5 litre mill delivers 10 hp more too, for a total of 107 hp. The five-speed manual shifter has been replaced with a new six-speed unit, and for the first time in Brazil, a four-speed automatic option is available for the Etios.
