Jaguar F-Pace expected to arrive in Malaysia Q4 2016

JAGUAR_FPACE_RSPORT_Location 04

Those of you who are awaiting the all-new Jaguar F-Pace, listen up – the Leaping Cat’s first-ever SUV is expected to arrive on Malaysian shores around the fourth quarter of the year, according to sources at Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia. That’s a little bit earlier than the provisional early-2017 date that was reported earlier.

Of course, being so far from the launch, prices and specifications of the Porsche Macan rival are still up in the air, but at the moment only the 3.0 litre supercharged petrol V6 – from the F-Type sports car, no less – has been confirmed for our market.

The six-pot is available in the standard 340 PS guise, as well as in the most powerful 380 PS tune in the F-Pace S; both produce 450 Nm and are mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

Although the F-Pace is also available with 180 PS/430 Nm 2.0 litre Ingenium turbo four-cylinder and 300 PS/700 Nm 3.0 litre biturbo V6 diesels, it’s unlikely that we’ll get these. Of more interest is the range of Ingenium petrol engines that are expected to go into production in the middle of the year – the 2.0 litre versions will certainly make more sense, particularly with our capacity-based road tax system.

We’ve recently driven the Jaguar F-Pace in Montenegro, and you’ll read our first impressions of the new SUV soon, so stay tuned!

    • This car is too big to be an Evoque rival. It rivals the likes of X5 and RX.

Its closest rival from within the family would be the Range Rover Sport. Literally the same AWD system, though since this is a Jaaag, 100% of drive goes to the rear by default.

  • A total beauty in terms of looks, performance and practicality. Jaguar made the right move into the endless crossover-SUV market the right way.

    • It’s indeed a beauty, but it has a tough fight ahead. Its rivals in the market like the X5 and RX are all super-strong players that are well-received. It needs more than just good looks.

What are the selling points, compared to a Porsche SUV?
I know, it is the Germanish Jaguar, or Japanese Jaguar, it is the 4.5sec century sprint, or it is the blue colour.

The new Jaguars are designed by his boss in India, or German designer, or a bananaEnglishman designer who know nothing about English style, who know nothing about English classics.

Why don’t you just put in Italian style inside a Rolls Royce and advertise it: designed by Italy.

This is one of the most beautiful SUVs around. And its such a simple exterior design too. But road tax for 3.0 SUV (RM1640) is not too bad compared to a 3.0 sedan (RM2130). Plus, if you can afford the car itself, which will most probably cost more than RM500k, that’s a small price to pay.

Can’t wait for the review! Do let us know how the Meridian hifi sounds like too.

  • Just like most of the Jags, me think this F Pace will have a long lasting impression in term of its sentimental value. So syiok to drive, beautifully crafted, inside and out. Just bought the 3.0 Turbo Diesel with the R Sport package. Here, down under, the 2.0 Std OTR, priced at AU$ 75K(RM 220K) and the 3.0 Std OTR, at AU$ 85K(RM 250K). Incredibly, its below the Macan’s price. The R Package, cost an extra AU$ 5.5K more.
