Volkswagen Amarok facelift – new images released

volkswagen amarok facelift 02

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has released more images of its facelifted Volkswagen Amarok, which was unveiled earlier this month. Aside from on-the-move visuals, the new photo set offers a view of the interior, which has been given a mild revision like the nip-and-tuck job for the exterior.

Changes include a new dashboard, which ditches the round contours found in the pre-facelift and now concentrates on putting everything across in horizontal and vertical lines, especially with the instrument panel and centre console.

New kit includes a three-spoke steering wheel with multi-function switches, a frameless rear-view mirror and, in the case of the Aventura launch model, a colour 3D display between the classic round instrument panel and steering wheel paddle shifters to control the pick-up’s eight-speed automatic transmission.

The refreshed Amarok also gets the latest radio/navigation systems and mobile online services. A variety of infotainment systems are available, and novelties include App Connect, which can integrate access to smartphone apps via a USB interface.

There’s also Guide & Inform, which extends the navigation system by adding online-based, up-to-the-minute information services such as online traffic information, as well as a Park Pilot parking assist system, replete with a reverse camera.

New electrically-adjustable ergoComfort seats as well, for the driver and front-seat passenger – the optional 14-way adjustable units offer sporty contoured side bolsters that have been optimised to provide maximum comfort and top ergonomic characteristics. Plusher things too, with nappa leather seat covers, contrasting Ceramique stitching and additional seat heating on them.

As for engine options, an Euro 6-compliant 3.0 litre V6 TDI unit has been introduced for the pick-up. It’s available in three output levels, these being 163 PS, 204 PS and 224 PS, and partnering transmission options are made up of an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual.

Three different drive-system versions are available. There’s a rear-wheel drive and two 4Motion versions – for the latter, buyers can choose between rear-wheel drive with an engageable front axle (manual gearbox), or with a permanent all-wheel drive system and a Torsen differential (eight-speed auto).

I disagree to the rebadge idea. I think Proton cars are more reliable than VW these days. Its a joke but to bad this is true.

VW owners need this because now you can tow your VW car while getting towed by a tow truck. Double towing ftw
