Updated Mazda 2 revealed in Japanese brochure

It appears that the Mazda 2 (or Demio) is due for an update, according to these Japanese brochure images from CarDrive. As you can tell, the changes don’t appear to be hugely significant but they are still present nonetheless.

On the exterior, everything appears to remain as before, with a new minor changes. For starters, the trim near the new LED fog lamps are now finished in silver rather than black, and there are new side mirrors like those on the new 3. More pronounced changes can be found inside, where there’s a new three-spoke steering wheel as seen on the CX-9 and facelifted 3.

Elsewhere, there’s revised trim and upholstery including something Mazda calls “Demio Tailored Brown.” The layout of the dash, centre stack and centre console continues to remain the same, while items such as the seven-inch Mazda Connnect touchscreen infotainment unit and Commander Control knob are still featured here. If the updated 3 is any indication, the 2 could receive a colour heads-up display as well.

Although not shown in the brochure images, CarDrive adds that the 2 will see improvements in many other areas as well. These include an expanded list of premium body colours that now includes Machine Grey, along with the addition of Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control. More info will be available when the new 2 is revealed.

The Mazda 2 especially the hatchback looks sporty from any angle. With a new good looking three-spoke steering wheel, it will add a dash of upmarket to his portfolio.

The addition of Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control have set a benchmark for all B-segment to emulate. Bravo to Mazda for setting a standard many car manufacturer will follow/envy.

g-vectoring control is a later technology that Mazda introduced, after mx-5 launch.

    • I would imagine the MX-5 works better WITHOUT G-Vectoring Control. It’s designed for real drivers.
