Honda Malaysia relocates northern service hub for Takata airbag inflator replacement to mainland Penang

Honda Malaysia has announced that it will relocate its northern service central hub (SCH) for Takata for airbag inflator replacement to mainland Penang to make it more accessible for affected customers.

The new hub is at Fella Design Sdn. Bhd. (Cawangan Juru) can be found at No. 1264-A-G, Jalan Perusahaan, Kawasan Perusahaan Perai, 13600, Perai, Penang, or next to Petron Juru. Alternatively, you can search for “Honda Northern Hub PUD” in Waze for guided directions.

The relocated service hub has started operations since October 20, 2016, while the hub at the current location (next to S.M.J.K. Convent Dato’ Keramat School) in Penang Island will cease operations on October 28 2016.

As for the central and southern service hubs, they will be maintained. All three service hubs, including the northern one, operates daily and closed during public holidays. On weekdays, the hubs are open from 8am to 5.50pm, and from 8am to 5pm on weekends. All three will continue to operate until the end of this year (December 31).

Meanwhile, Mobile Hubs (MH), as previously reported, will expand operations to selected shopping malls in the central region until December 31. The hubs will be operational on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 7 pm, and more details can be gathered from the image above.

During the period from August 1 to October 25, Honda Malaysia has replaced more than 92,700 units of affected Takata front airbag inflators, with almost 13,000 units from that figure (or 14%), being replaced at temporary hubs.

To date, there are still 6% of Takata front airbag inflators that are yet to be replaced in the northern region, while the percentage stands at 6% and 18% for southern and central regions, respectively.

Customers are urged to make an appointment to replace their airbags at their nearest authorised Honda dealers, SCH, or Mobile Hubs, where the stock availability for Takata driver front airbag inflators is at 100%. They can also seek replacements at Honda Family Road Trip venues.

Meanwhile, the company also said parts for Takata passenger front airbag inflators are gradually arriving, and are expected to be at 55% by end of December 2016. Letters to notify on stock availability will be sent to affected customers.
