Honda Malaysia extends mobile hubs, door-to-door service for Takata airbag replacement to March 2017

Honda Malaysia has announced that it will extend the operations of its Mobile Hubs (MH) for Takata airbag inflator replacement activities to three mall venues every weekend in the Central region, Johor Bahru, Kedah and Penang until March 2017. The company’s door-to-door airbag inflator replacement service offered by 84 authorised Honda dealers nationwide will also be extended to March 2017 (from December 31, 2016).

In addition, Honda Malaysia will continue its efforts to reach out to affected customers with the introduction of a mobile caravan service, which will be active seven days a week to provide on-the-spot airbag inflator replacements for affected customers. Mobile teams will also be deployed that will visit used car dealers and corporate companies for on-the-spot replacements within the Central region.

These measures are part of Honda Malaysia’s effort to accelerate the replacement of affected Takata front airbag inflators, and are in addition to the replacement services that are available at every Honda Family Road Trip and Honda Mobile Roadshow.

Meanwhile, the operations of its temporary Service Central Hubs (SCH) for Takata airbag inflator replacement activities will come to an end on December 31, 2016, after previously being extended back in October. However, customers can still get their airbag inflators replaced at any authorised Honda dealer nationwide.

The company had previously announced that the stock availability of front passenger airbag inflators is targeted to reach 70% in December, while it is 100% for the driver airbag inflator 100% for some time now.

For details on the latest locations of the MH, head on over to Honda Malaysia’s dedicated site, here. You can check your Honda’s update status by calling 1800-88-2020 or by visiting any authorised Honda dealer. To see if your vehicle is affected, Honda Malaysia has also prepared an online VIN checker.

Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. continues alerting and informing customers of the importance of replacing the affected vehicle’s airbag inflators, via increased frequency of postings on social media and SMS blast. Owners of Honda vehicles affected by the airbag inflator product recall are advised to immediately get their vehicles checked and parts replaced at any Authorized Honda Service dealers, Service Central Hubs or Mobile Hubs as soon as possible.

A simple way is this. Honda Malaysia can tell JPJ not to renew the road tax of any Honda that has not replaced their airbags.

That will save Honda a lot of trouble. And also it covers many 2nd hand owners who are not registered with Honda Malaysia.

But JPJ you know lah. If no money, don’t talk. If it involves no ang pau or money, JPJ would never co-operate with Honda Malaysia.

I only received notification to change front passenger airbag and at the same time still no stock to replace. Has been calling them for the date and was informed that they will inform me.

Give them a call today and only then they said “ada stock” but need to call SC. Called SC and they said they need to call Honda Malaysia. Paling cepat, mid or end of Jan 2017.

Honda Malaysia just issue notices.to cover their own arses. Just as in the two recent Honda city cases in Malaysia they absolve themselves from liability by saying that they have informed the owners but it was not done. What if the owners have sold their cars? And in my case they tell me they don’t have stocks for the accord passenger airbags but they have 70% stock availability. What does that mean??
