On August 21, BMW will unveil the all-new F90 BMW M5 and to get the hype train rolling, here’s a teaser video of the upcoming Mercedes-AMG E 63 competitor.
The new M5 will feature all-wheel drive for the first time in its 33-year history, which BMW is calling the M xDrive system. Predominantly rear-biased in its default setting, the system can also be set to only send drive to the rear wheels, with a rear locking Active M Differential to allow for Ken Block-esque moments.
Power will come from a revised version of BMW’s 4.4 litre twin-turbocharged V8, paired with an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic gearbox with Drivelogic. No word on the final output figures, but we now know the new M5 will have a fuel consumption (combined) of 10.5 l/100 km, and CO2 emissions (combined) of 241 g/km.
Based on the video, the M5 will also be offered in a First Edition variant with customisation done by BMW Individual. This will likely see distinctive aesthetic enhancements over a regular M5, which will be revealed during the car’s global debut. Previously, the M5 was part of another teaser for the upcoming Need for Speed: Payback from Electronic Arts.

Waste of money. Our Ministers have said many times, Proton is far better in handling, quality and power than BMW and Volvo.
Why spend RM1 million plus on a BMW M5 when you can enjoy same quality (according to our Menteris) of a Proton?
Better buy Proton Preve or Iriz and save RM1 million plus.
Fully agree. Car is depreciating asset. Better buy local, cheap but safe car and invest or donate the rest.
