Volvo Car Malaysia recently started order taking for the new S90 T8 Twin Engine Inscription, which will arrive in locally assembled (CKD) form, and is currently being offered at a special introductory price of RM348,888 (until October 31) on-the-road without insurance.

Now, we’re bringing you a gallery of the soon-to-be-launched Volvo, where we start with the exterior. As the variant name implies, the car sports the Inscription trim package that introduces a gloss black grille with chrome inserts, 19-inch 10-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels (with 255/40 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres), chrome lower side mouldings with the Inscription logo, and a powered tailgate with hands-free operation.

Volvo’s trademark ‘Thor’s hammer’ daytime running lights are also present here, being part of the LED headlights that also include Active High Beam (AHB) and Active Bending Lights (ABL) functionality. Other exterior bits include puddle lights, illuminated door handles and dual exhaust outlets. The car’s chassis also comes with rear air suspension.

On the inside, we find linear walnut inlays for the dashboard, similar to what you’ll find in the XC90 CKD as well. However, the car seen also here comes with a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, something that isn’t found in the large SUV. However, it has yet to been confirmed if this will be offered as a cost option or standard for the variant (we’ll have to wait for an official launch first).

Moving on, other familiar items include a three-spoke, leather-clad steering wheel with Uni-deco trim, 12.3-inch digital instrument display, two-zone climate control, along with a Sensus Navigation Pro infotainment system with a nine-inch touchscreen and 10-speaker audio system.

Other bits of kit include 16-way, powered comfort seats with Nappa leather upholstery and memory function for the driver and front passenger. As part of the Inscription trim package, an illuminated Orrefors crystal gear lever is standard, exactly like what you’ll find the in the XC90 CKD.

The T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid powertrain is made up of a 2.0 litre Drive-E turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder petrol engine (320 hp and 400 Nm) and an electric motor (87 hp and 240 Nm) mounted in the rear.

This setup provides the car with all-wheel drive, and also include a crankshaft-mounted starter generator (CISG) sandwiched between the engine and gearbox, a 10.4 kWh lithium-ion battery located in the middle of the transmission tunnel, and an eight-speed Geartronic automatic transmission.

Total system output is rated at 407 hp and 640 Nm, allowing the the S90 T8 to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. The car is also capable of a combined fuel consumption figure of 2.0 litres per 100 km, carbon dioxide emissions of 46 grammes per kilometre and an all-electric range of 50 km on the European NEDC cycle.

Once again, the S90 T8 Twin Engine Inscription is currently being offered, until the end of the month, at a special introductory price of RM348,888. That makes it RM40,000 cheaper than the T5 and RM105,000 less than the T6 AWD R-Design currently on sale, although both these variants are fully imported (CBU). Interested?

Volvo considered cheap car overseas. But in Malaysia, they try to par themselves with Mercedes and BMW.

Only a real Volvo fanboy will pay RM350k for a Volvo. Might as well buy a 2015 Mercedes S400h Hybrid. Even a 2017 BMW 730li also going for now RM399k.

        Dream on ,

Audi A6 package is already obsolete and looks dated now

Based on most international car reviews (especially car buyer uk ) , S90 looks, drive and handle miles better than A6.

HOPE YOU ARE NOT LIVING INSIDE THE CAVE TOO , ARE YOU? Please check it up then

No one mentioned this yet. but let me be the 1st. ” The car is also capable of a combined fuel consumption figure of 2.0 litres per 100 km”. WOW is the only reaction to that. For something that powerful and big, its amazing they are able to get this kind of fuel consumption.

Other car manufacturer should take note, Being fuel efficient does not mean that the car has to be slow.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 7 Thumb down 1
    • my city RM70 can go 500KM
      if 2L per 100KM, means RM20 can go 500KM

      RM50 X 4(per month) X 12 months X 9 years
      =RM21,600.

      Not that big deal.

but yes the volvo is so much nicer than city. just a comparing fuel efficient

2 liter per 100km is only feasible in the real world IF u plug in your car every day and only travel within urban area. however IF you are driving few hours continous on the highway, dont expect anywhere near that level of consumption.

    This car got RV?

    • Dislike Toyota on Oct 10, 2017 at 1:17 am

Most new cars got not much retain RV nowadays including jepunis , kimchi and German except buying properties and antiques.

Year end new car stock clearance always push every used car brands RV down very much so as to launch latest better and high technology new models.

Who would want to drive an outdated and older car when you yourself is keen to have a new one too. High RV means the used car will not be sold but parked forever in the used car lots ( people willing to fork out a little extra for clean new purchase)

look around you all car prices RV drop like waterfall after immediately leaving the showrooms, the higher the car price the steeper will be the drop based on retain % of used value.

So be prepared to lose on every new cars and RV should not be a question if you insists on a new purchase.

True. Rv used to be good before when we have not many reliable and good looking japanese car such as civic fd. Now, too many cars on the road and newer ones offer better value to justify their higher price compared to older ones. Perodua rv also drops so many otr now ppl willing to fork out extra money to get new myvi instead of expensive old one. Right now i believe more ppl are buying new cars than used ones.
