Demolition works of Batu Tiga and Sungai Rasau toll plazas started; to be carried out in phases – PLUS

Highway concessionaire PLUS has announced it has begun demolition works of the Batu Tiga and Sungai Rasau toll plaza building structures. The company says the demolition works will need to go through several phases, and is expected to be completed by the end of March this year.

According to PLUS managing director Datuk Azman Ismail, the company is in the midst of preparing traffic diversion plans as well as transporting the necessary equipment to the demolition sites. He added that traffic management and lane closures have already commenced at the Batu Tiga toll plaza since yesterday (February 20), with the Sungai Rasau toll plaza set to follow suit by tonight.

“Preliminary works such as the removal of toll equipment, signage and other assets have already started on January 22 and ended on February 8,” said Azman Ismail. This represents the first phase of the demolition works.

This is followed by phase two, which involves road closures and traffic diversion. In phase three, demolition of the toll plazas begin, starting from the middle of the building structures. During this phase, new road markings will be installed along with barricades to realign all lanes. In the final phase, the remaining parts of the building structures will be demolished and a final examination of the lanes will be done.

The company advised all motorists to be careful and not to speed in their vehicles when travelling through the unused toll plazas. Other precautions include placing safety cones for motorists to recognise the position of the lanes, high-mast lighting and warning signs (speed limit, no overtaking, etc.)

Such a disgrace. Takes them over 3 months to do this. Get China contractor from China to do it, they can do it within 3 days despite allowing traffic to flow through a couple of lanes.

Then they can do a perfect clean up. All in 3 days

    3 days vs 3 months.

If Carmakers make AEB Auto-Emergency-Braking a standard fitment on every new vehicle sold here. Can automatically brake the car if the driver fails to respond to the barriers.

    • You have to keep in mind that some AEB (like in the new MyVi) won’t work if you still in control of your steering & brake

AEB wont work effectively at 100kmh. Look all around you. Many old wiras and iswaras still around. Why? Drivers are not crazy.

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0
    • AEB only works @ 60kmph with the best system. Not at 120kmph straight.

Thumb up 7 Thumb down 1
    • If u drive 110km/h while approaching the tolls, AEB will not save u.

It’s like blaming Henry Ford for inventing the car that leads to motor vehicle accidents. Technology was meant to assist not to take over human control. If you speeding no autonomous braking can prevent your car from crashing to whatever get into your way. Blame ourselves instead
