Volkswagen Marketplace launched in Malaysia – online platform to reserve a Volkswagen with exclusive deals

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has officially launched the new Volkswagen Marketplace, an online platform where customers can reserve a Volkswagen car and enjoy exclusive offers.

In conjunction with the platform’s launch, VPCM is offering 20 units of the Passat 1.8 TSI Trendline Cyber at just RM135,888 nett (without OTR fees and insurance). For the price, you’ll get the standard five-year warranty and roadside assistance, but the free maintenance is bumped up to five years from the normal three years. A one-year free insurance and low interest rate of 0.88% per annum are also thrown in to sweeten the deal.

Equipment-wise, the variant is largely similar to the Passat 1.8 TSI Trendline Plus from last year, with 17-inch ‘Istanbul’ alloy wheels, leather seats, window tint, halogen headlamps, Climatronic three-zone climate control, manual seats and a Composition infotainment system with a five-inch touchscreen.

Motivation is still provided by a 1.8 litre turbocharged TSI mill producing 180 PS at 5,100 to 6,200 rpm and 250 Nm from 1,250 to 5,000 rpm, mated to a seven-speed DSG dry dual-clutch transmission. Four colours are available for the Passat – Pure White, Deep Black, Indium Grey and Reflex Silver.

To reserve a unit for yourself, you’ll first need to go to the Marketplace, select the model, your preferred dealer and submit the necessary details. A reservation fee of RM1,500 is needed with each reservation, with the amount being deducted from the total price of the selected car. A Volkswagen sales representative will contact you to finalise the purchase until the car is fully registered and ready for collection.

According to Erik Winter, managing director of VPCM, the idea of creating an e-platform has been in the pipeline for some time, with the recent success of the company’s partnership with Lazada being a good motivator.

“The rise of e-commerce has changed the way people shop, and selling 12 Beetles on Lazada in just 20 minutes confirmed our belief that Malaysians are ready and receptive to buying cars online. This as an important development for the brand and we are very excited to be able to bring Volkswagen Marketplace to Malaysia,” said Winter.

“Volkswagen Marketplace is a permanent platform for us, and we will be regularly updating it with new offers, so interested customers should definitely keep on a lookout for them,” he added.

It is actually the same car. Infact, it is much bigger than the A4. I would say it is at par as the A6

      So RM135k vs RM360k

Definitely a good buy. Same car. Same parts, all same same

I’d prefer you stop using my name, but yea, the Passat price is on par with Jap D-segments plus the free 5 years maintenance and first year insurance makes it tempting.

I’ve just log into VW Marketplace. They show 16 units Passat left but it did not specify which year model. At RM135,888 nett (without OTR fees/insurance), it sure look tempting even if it’s a 2017 model.

Those german better hire a local CEO , if not, they gonna close shop very soon. The best way to recover vw reputation in malaysia is to create their own pre owned department, to stabilize their horrible 2nd hard value 1st, then you can talk, if not, god bless vw malaysia.

haha… online marketplace all losing money game and make money by capital gain via Pyramid VC round..

Car company also interested in this game, you need to sell car at losses or subsidies, jack up your online GMV, 200 million sales with 300 million losses, then sell to toyota with valuation at 1 billion.. this are marketplace game lar..

There are few dealers selling 2017 pre-reg Passat 1.8CL at RM138 but the marketplace is selling TL for RM135k for 2017. Btw seriously hard to spot new B8 on the road after they launched end of 2016. People has lost their confident on their mighty dry clutch. The wet clutch variant is just too expensive as it only available on 2.0 model.

If the 1.8 model comes with wet clutch the sales will be better than current situation though it might like as selling as B7.
