Previewed late last year, the all-new Honda Accord will be officially launching in Thailand next month at the 2019 Bangkok International Motor Show, which starts on March 27, reports Headlightmag.
The popular D-segment sedan, now in its tenth generation, will be available with two powertrain options in Thailand – a 1.5 litre VTEC Turbo unit and a 2.0 litre hybrid. The two options replace the outgoing car’s 2.0L and 2.4L naturally aspirated engines.
The Accord is the third model in Thailand to receive Honda’s 1.5L turbo engine after the Civic and CR-V. Said to be stronger than the old 2.4L NA but more fuel efficient than the 2.0L NA, the downsized petrol turbo unit makes 192 hp at 5,500 rpm and 260 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 5,000 rpm, according to the report. A CVT automatic replaces the old five-speed torque converter auto.
For reference, the engine makes 193 PS/243 Nm in our CR-V and 173 PS/220 Nm in our Civic FC, so this is the strongest iteration of the 1.5L VTEC Turbo engine yet. It looks like ASEAN will not get the US-market’s 2.0 litre turbo with 252 hp, 370 Nm and a 10-speed automatic.
The new Accord Hybrid with the Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive system combines a 2.0 litre naturally aspirated i-VTEC engine with two electric motors. The Atkinson cycle ICE makes 145 hp/175 Nm, while the pair of e-motors make 184 hp/315 Nm. Total system output is 215 hp at 6,200 rpm, delivered by a CVT auto. The more compact lithium-ion battery pack slots under the rear floor, as opposed to in the previous car’s boot.
The new 2019 Accord won’t be mistaken for the old one, as it boasts a fresh new look with a sweeping roofline. At 4,920 mm long and 1,860 mm wide, the new sedan is 10 mm shorter and 10 mm wider than before. That roofline sits 15 mm lower than before, while the 2,830 mm wheelbase is a significant 55 mm longer. The centre of gravity is 10 mm lower than before.
As Honda’s flagship sedan in these parts, the Accord will come with the full Honda Sensing suite of safety features, including Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow. Thais will get to choose from four colours – pearl white, black, silver, grey. More on the new Honda Accord here.
With its impending launch, the Accord is set to renew its rivalry with D-segment nemesis Toyota Camry, which is also a fresh product. Which is more your style – “Beautiful Monster” or fastback Accord?

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Looked like Civic front and rear merged with Perdana rear.
Typo error. Refer to below.
Valid point. But Perdana owners wont tempted to downgrade to Accord.
The next generation game changer. Habisla game over Perdana
That dash design follow KIA now? LOL
“Downgrade”
Perdana aka old accord is better than new accord? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaah
Proton is so shameful. 30 years of Motoring and yet, they cannot even have their own D class Perdana.
They have to beg Honda to give it rights to rebadge old Accord
Honda untung because PRoton had to pay few hundred million to Honda Japan as royalty to rebadge their old outdated car.
The ugliest accord ever and the ugliest car on earth…
(Like) 2019 Honda Accord.
(Dislike) 2019 Toyota Camry
Both r ugly, how to choose?
Accordana foreva.
No ppl will care , everyone still buying it ,
Its look is more polarising compared to the new Camry. I guess if Honda screw up the pricing in Malaysia, people are going to buy Toyota which has a more popular and well-accepted design. Plus this is a turbo, it will not be as durable as Camry’s NA engine in the long run. So Honda, careful with pricing.
turbo engine is not as durable as na engine? IS that a fact or simply tembak? statements must be back up with facts
Americans will love it, like they love the camry too. Honda and Toyota should hire better designers pronto
Inb4 the mud crab pincer looking signature tail lamp
current gen Accord, the next Proton Perdana3.
jokes on you, why rebadge honda accord when you can rebadge geely borui.
What? Geli & boroi?
The rear is definitely copied from Protong,Honda Japan.
Copycat versions do not command such high prices.
Anyway, like protong fanboys…there will be hardcore Honda fanboys.
Howcome Protong got no bola to sue Honda for infringement?
Maybe, they cant cos they have been rebadging the 8th gen Accord..the Pondana.Angrybird Camry design still miles ahead.
Civic and CRV were using 1.5 Turbo..
Accord also using 1.5 Turbo.. Better buy Civic or CRV and the savings keep well in pocket
Wait la. Later City also get the turbo
ya,city also will come out 1.2 turbo
Sohai, better buy PotongX50 1.5T at 60k-80k launch end-2019.
Well, you forget that the accord also comes with the 2.0T. A detuned version of the CTR’s mill.
Blame us for a) complain about road tax, b) complain about price if the 2.0T isn’t coming here.
The Optima GT has a 2.0T. Everyone complains it is expensive.
Doesn’t matter. Soon Honda will be dead here in Malaysia. We rakyat will be buying flying cars!!!
Looked like Civic front and sides merged with Perdana rear.
I’ll take the fully spec fastback accord than the ancient engine beautiful monster. No doubt.
What makes you think Honda wouldn’t plonk in an old 2.0L NA without hybrid taken from the low-spec CR-V into its low-spec Accord…?
Deswai buy toyota. reliable, classy, and most importantly got RV wan! kimchi and proton no RV
the hybrid will sit at the top of the range and will share its powertrain with the CR-V facelift….
as per usual, it will come with all the bells and whistles
In the US, the hybrid is the pick of the range
Looks ugly but still a very good buy cause its a HONDA
What so good about honda? Still same jepunis junk
Japanese cars are good. All reliable and got modern technology also. conti cars and proton all later rosak
U buy BMW 5 series then, let’s C u enjoy frequent visit workshop on all their in-car electronics problem.
So what’s your car? Roll Royce?
Expect this to be between RM170-210k given that it is on par if not better than the BMW 3 series
210K is a bit too much for the top spec (hybrid) considering that we have tax incentives. The camry hybrid was only about 190K. Anyways I am guessing there would be 3 variants like the previous generation.
My estimations:
1.5T base 169K
1.5T mid 178K
2.0 hybrid high 190k
my gues will b
2.0NA BASE RM152K
1.5T MID RM173K
Will cancel my plan to buy new accord if confirm with this price…
I find the overall design very conservative and dull. There’s nothing to shout about for both the interior and exterior.
aiyo.. look like perdana firsly into this fastback design then follow by honda. not exactly but generally is
Perdana2 rear halfcut join to Civic. This is new Accord. Jepunis designers still sleeping.
The engine itself, is much more advanced and efficient as compared to the old uncle “Beautiful Monster” (Camry). 1.5 with higher horse power and torque than the ancient 2.5 liter Camry. Expect lower fuel consumption, RM90 road tax and more thrilling to drive.
Looks like this round is camry winner
I wish that Honda will bring in the 2.0L turbo with 10 speed auto transmission.
And call it the Accord Type-R
Finally. Thought Honda in South East Asia had dropped the Accord in favour of selling SUVs. So to see a new Accord back is a relief. But it does have tough competition. The Camry looks good and is sportier than ever. And the Civic can also be considered competition. Its big enough for Malaysia and has the same engine. At a cheaper price. Then there’s the Mazda6 if you want something even sportier. Though it is ageing.
CVT gearbox?where is the 10 gear gear box for the accord sold in USA..I say current 5 speed accord better buy..pick up better than CVT
So ugly and retro in design
Looks like those American fin tail and thunderbolt design of the 50’s and 60’s in a new moulded form
Honda badge DOES NOT carry weight in Premium segment .
Where is the 10 speed gear box..cvt?..current accord 2.4 5 speed better buy
Looks like a boring Ionic
Exciting exciting exciting!!!
A bit surprise that Honda brings 2.0L Hybrid here… Mm… not here, it’s Thailand. Hope that Malaysia will get the 2.0L Hybrid as well.
Looking forward to Honda Malaysia launching of the Accord.
freaking ugly…..looks like proton perdana
what happened with the “crab face”?
failed, honda!
They say Camry looks like a whale ,ikan paus ..Accord looks like a hammer head shark …
wow. it’s a handsome car. when i grow up, i want to buy 4 of these. one each for me, papa, mama, and granma.
kenny,
10 years old
A person who got no taste at all. Your papa, mama and granny will ask sarcastic why are you still not able own and afford a European luxury like Mercedes, Volvo , BMW yet. Cos of lower income ….
Honda accord is still not luxury brand yet.
This round Honda Accord may lose to Toyota Camry in term of sales. In order to beat Camry they should bring in the Accord 2.0 turbo US spec. This is my opinion.
Macam Perdana. Honda ambil sedikit rekabentuk Perdana
Kia optima, mazda 6, toyota camryand nissan teana cannot sell already. They will face a hard time.
Rear remind me of past generation camry?
