The Volkswagen Touareg has hit an unprecedented milestone, with production finally breaching the seven-digit mark. To celebrate the occasion, the Wolfsburg automaker has unveiled the Touareg One Million edition, and it’s available with a range of exclusive equipment.
Let’s start with the paintwork. The optional new Sechura Beige colour has been specially developed for the variant, and customers can opt for the 20-inch Bogota wheels or larger 21-inch Suzuka wheels finished in Adamantium Silver.
The exterior is further accentuated by smoked tail lights, new sill panel trims with the “ONE Million” inscription, a badge on the B-pillar, as well as gloss black wheel arch and diffuser. An R-Line Black Style exterior package with Reflection Silver side mirror caps (seen on the model here) can also be had.
Inside, the seats are wrapped with Puglia leather (the key fob too!) that’s coloured with olive leaf extracts. The upper section of the seats and door cards get a diamond stitching in Amber Brown – the same thread is further used on the dash panel, steering wheel and gear lever. Decorative trims include Silver Wave elements that help add contrast to the spacious cabin.
As per the standard model, the Touareg One Million edition gets the Innovision Cockpit, which combines a 12-inch Digital Cockpit instrument display with a massive 15-inch Discover Premium infotainment system. Extras include Night Vision, Front Cross Traffic Assist, active all-wheel steering, roll stabilisation with electromechanical anti-roll bars, head-up display, Roadwork Lane Assist, and LED matrix headlights.
Powertrain options start from the base six-cylinder turbodiesel engine, with prices starting from 80,880 euros (RM371k). A 340 PS turbo petrol V6 and a 421 PS V8 turbodiesel is also available in selected markets.
The Touareg was originally introduced in 2002, and production has exclusively been at the automaker’s plant in Bratislava, Slovakia. Since its inception, the Touareg’s platform has gone on to underpin segment-defining cars, such as the original Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7.
