Proton X70 is one of the official cars for MyAPEC 2020

The Proton X70 has just been selected to be one of the official vehicles of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2020, otherwise known as MyAPEC 2020. The C-segment SUV will be used to support the year-long forum, specifically to ferry officials from 21 APEC Economies as their visit begins next year.

APEC is a forum which promotes economic cooperation throughout the Asia Pacific region, where discussions on trade liberalisation and investment will be had, as well as topics such as digitalisation, human resource development efforts, and even women empowerment.

Proton CEO, Dr Li Chunrong said: “Proton is proud to support Malaysia in hosting the APEC 2020. With its intelligent features, comfortable ride, refined interior and five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, we believe the Proton X70 is perfect for showcasing how cooperation between nations via forums such as APEC can help uplift each other, and thus raise the capabilities of entire industries and supporting ecosystems.”

“During the year-long programme, Proton will also maintain the fleet through its industry-leading network of 120 3S/4S outlets that will be in operation by the end of 2019,” he added.

To recap, the X70 is the first vehicle introduced by the national automaker since getting in bed with Geely. It will soon be locally assembled at Proton’s upgraded plant in Tanjung Malim, before being joined by other Geely-based cars, like the X50 and a new sedan to replace the Preve.

We all have to thank China for Proton success. Without Geely giving their Boyue to Proton, Proton probably would have close their shops and game over already

      • Kecian P2. MY so shame to show P2 cars to visiting diplomats unlike how they are so proud of P1 cars. P1, the pride of the Nation!

Good they are finding use for CKD pre-production units. Proton taking care of the environment by making full use of their unfit for sale vehicles. Kudos!

  • That’s why Perodua didn’t dare to show their rotten cars to the world because of shame, so it was never recommended for this big event.
