Proton sold 11,232 units, including smart, eMas EVs, in Feb 2025 – up 13.2% from Jan, 17.2% market share

Proton has announced that it sold a total of 11,232 vehicles in the month of February 2025, which is 13.2% more than the 9,914 units reported in January 2025. Keep in mind that Proton has been reporting sales results as a group beginning with the first month of this year, so the figures mentioned include not just Proton vehicles (domestic and export), but also smart and eMas electric vehicles (EVs).

A year ago in February 2024, Proton sold a total of 13,602 vehicles, which only included Proton cars for domestic and export markets. As such, it is a year-on-year (YoY) drop for the company by about 17%, although last February’s figure did not include smart or eMas vehicles.

The company says the latest result is good for an estimated market share of 17.2% from a forecast total industry volume (TIV) of 65,276 units. It adds that three of its models are leading when it comes to year-to-date (YTD) sales, including the S70 that has led the C-segment sedan market for two consecutive months with 2,340 units sold so far in 2025 – the S70 saw 1,143 units sold in January 2025.

Meanwhile, the X50 saw 1,824 units delivered in February 2025 for a YTD total of 3,259 units, which placed the B-segment SUV at the top of its class. Next up, Proton says the X90 topped the D-segment SUV market but did not provide a unit total.

Moving on, sales of the X70 reached 746 units last month, while the Saga is once again the best-selling Proton model with 5,024 units. The Persona and Iriz managed 1,323 and 283 deliveries, respectively.

On the EV side of things, 580 units of the eMas 7 were delivered in February 2025, with the YTD total beyond the 1,000-unit mark, according to the company. Additionally, 50 units of the EV were shipped to Nepal last month ahead of its future launch, while a small number of units have been sent to Singapore and Trinidad and Tobago for evaluation purposes.

“Sales for Proton recovered in February after a slow start to 2025. There is some lingering uncertainty regarding buyer liquidity but for now, our volumes are on an upward trend. Therefore, as a whole, Proton is continuing to chase sales volumes for our range of ICE products while setting the pace in the EV market. The Proton eMas 7 has proven to be an early success so our challenge now is to keep it in the spotlight while aggressively planning for our other model introductions later this year,” said Roslan Abdullah, CEO of Proton Edar.
