2026 Honda StepWGN debuts in Thailand – e:HEV Spada variant est from RM219k; CBU; 2.0L hybrid

After a bit of teasing, the Honda StepWGN has now made its debut at the ongoing Thailand International Motor Expo. The MPV will be sold as a fully-imported (CBU) model from Japan and is currently estimated to be priced from at least 1.7 million baht (about RM219k).

At that price point, the StepWGN will be the second most expensive model in Honda Thailand’s line-up, sitting above the CR-V e:HEV and Accord e:HEV that start from 1.399 million and 1.479 million baht (RM180k and RM190k) respectively. Only the Civic Type R from 3.99 million baht (RM514k) is more costly.

Thailand is getting the StepWGN in the Spada trim level with a hybrid powertrain. The latter is the brand’s e:HEV system based around a gasohol-compliant 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated inline-four petrol engine making 145 PS (143 hp or 107 kW) and 175 Nm of torque.

This acts primarily as a generator for a battery that powers the primary traction motor at the front rated at 184 PS (181 hp or 135 kW) and 315 Nm of torque. When at higher speeds, the Atkinson-cycle engine can clutch in via an E-CVT to directly drive the front wheels.

This setup is claimed to provide a fuel consumption of 18.5 km per litre, and it is covered by a five-year/unlimited-mileage warranty. The hybrid battery is guaranteed for 10 years with unlimited mileage (whichever comes first).

In terms of kit, the StepWGN in Spada guise comes with a black interior, leather and fabric combination seats, second-row captain chairs with ottomans, a 60:40 split-folding third-row bench seat, power sliding doors and tailgate, tri-zone climate control, a digital instrument cluster display and Honda Sensing ADAS suite.

Meteoroid Gray Metallic is the only zero-cost colour option for the MPV, with Twilight Mist Black Pearl and Crystal Black Pearl adding another 10,000 baht (RM1.3k) to the final price. There’s also Platinum White Pearl for an additional 14,000 baht (RM1.8k).

With this introduction, Thailand is the third country in Southeast Asia to get the StepWGN after Indonesia and Singapore. Could Malaysia also join the list in the future? Would you want an alternative to the Nissan Serena, whenever the latter is launching?
