The Setia City Convention Centre is once again the place to be this weekend, as it is where the 2025 paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) is being held, over this weekend from 9am to 7pm. Among the brands taking part are Audi and Volkswagen, and the German brands are showcasing their range of vehicles which visitors may view, experience and purchase.

Among the highlights of the offerings from Audi is the Q7 that is priced at RM459,990, a three-row SUV that packs a 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 engine producing 340 PS and 500 Nm, and the combustion engine here is paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that incorporates a belt-driven starter generator, enabling the Q7 to coast with the engine off for up to 40 seconds at speeds from 55 km/h to 160 km/h.

Driveline for the Q7 is comprised of an eight-speed automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel-drive, enabling a 0-100 km/h run in 5.6 seconds and a top speed capped at 250 km/h. Both stability and agility are aided by rear-wheel steering.

Malaysia gets the Q7 as an S line trim variant, which brings equipment including Matrix LED with Audi Laser Light, customisable rear OLED lights, black styling package plus with S line trim, Audi Sport Seats Plus, Bang & Olufsen 3D Premium Sound, 22-inch Audi Sport Y-spoke wheels and electronically adjustable third row seats, among others.

For those looking for fully battery-electric motoring, Audi has the Q8 e-tron at the show, priced from RM299,990. Buyers can choose from two bodystyles with two powertrains, and these are the Q8 e-tron 50 advance, Q8 Sportback e-tron 50 advance, Q8 e-tron 55 S line and Q8 Sportback e-tron 55 S line.

The Q8 e-tron 50 advance and the Q8 Sportback e-tron 50 advance get a pair of electric motors which provide 340 PS and 664 Nm of torque combined, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of six seconds and a 200 km/h top speed. Next are the Q8 e-tron 55 S line and Q8 Sportback e-tron 55 S line, which each bring a more powerful setup totalling 408 PS.

Looking for something sleeker than SUVs? The Audi booth has a stylish number in the A5 Sportback, sold in Malaysia in 2.0 TFSI quattro form with the S line trim package. Under the bonnet is a 2.0 litre turbocharged TFSI four-cylinder engine that makes 249 PS and 370 Nm, driving all four wheels through an S tronic dual-clutch seven-speed automatic.

Fellow group brand Volkswagen is also present with the Touareg, priced from RM399,990. A close relation of the Audi Q7, the Touareg is also now locally assembled (CKD), and packs plenty underneath its handsome exterior. Powertrain is a 3.0 litre V8 TSI turbocharged petrol engine that outputs 340 PS and 450 Nm, driving all four wheels through the manufacturer’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system and and eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Purchasing your vehicle at PACE 2025 comes with benefits unique to the event. That’s because the first 200 new vehicle bookings will come with RM3,000 worth of vouchers from our supporting partners, which include Solar Gard, Dodomat, The Carage, Kuzig Glanz, Gintell and DK Schweizer.

  • 2025 Audi Q7 launched – first Malaysia, ASEAN CKD, 3.0L mild hybrid V6, 300 PS, 500 Nm, RM462,422

    2025 Audi Q7 launched – first Malaysia, ASEAN CKD, 3.0L mild hybrid V6, 300 PS, 500 Nm, RM462,422

Another car being launched today at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 is the Audi Q7, culminating a long gestation period for a car we’ve known about nearly 12 months ago. As previously reported, the flagship seven-seater SUV marks the first time Ingolstadt has assembled a car locally here, and it’s also the first in Southeast Asia.

The car itself was shown during the start of production last month, so the price was hitherto the last remaining piece of the puzzle. That has now been revealed, with the Q7 priced at RM462,422 on-the-road without insurance for the sole 3.0 TFSI S line variant, inclusive of the standard two-year, unlimited-mileage warranty. Add the Audi assurance package five-year warranty and servicing package and this figure rises to RM482,422.

This compares favourably against its German rivals – the BMW X5 xDrive50e starts from RM494,800 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE450 (with a four-year warranty) at RM524,888. The Audi and Mercedes, lest we forget, are the only models in the segment to come with seven seats.

For that money, you get a 3.0 litre turbocharged TFSI V6, the same one that you’ll find in the Volkswagen Touareg and making an identical 340 PS from 5,200 to 6,400 rpm; peak torque, meanwhile, gets boosted by 50 Nm to 500 Nm, made between 1,370 and 4,500 rpm. Unlike its mainstream-badged sibling, the Audi pairs the six-pot with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, using a belt-driven starter-generator to allow the car to coast with the engine off for up to 40 seconds between 55 and 160 km/h.

All that extra torque means that despite the two extra seats and typical Audi blubber, the Q7 is able to rocket from zero to 100 km/h four tenths of a second quicker than the Touareg, taking 5.6 seconds to complete the century sprint on its way to an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h. The mill is mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox and quattro permanent all-wheel drive.

The Q7 we’re getting is the second facelift for the second-generation model, which was actually sold here at a time at a cool RM599,900. The latest model receives a new front fascia with sharper headlights – replete with eyebrow-style daytime running lights – allied to an octagonal Singleframe grille with an open hexagonal mesh, while vertical air inlets sit at either corner. You also get OLED taillights, and both the front and rear light signatures can be customised to your liking.

Local models come standard with HD matrix LED headlights with laser high beams and the S Line package, the latter throwing on a sportier air intake design, a rear diffuser and body-coloured cladding. They also get the black styling package plus which lends a black finish to the grille, door mirrors and other components for a meaner look. A set of 22-inch Audi Sport V-spoke two-tone alloy wheels completes the look.

Various tweaks over several years have made the Q7’s interior look very similar to the Q8‘s, with acres of silver and gloss black trim and no less than four screens. The 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit instrument display remains and can now show surrounding road users in 3D, while the 10.1-inch upper centre touchscreen runs the third generation of Volkswagen’s modular infotainment (MIB 3). Meanwhile, a smaller 8.6-inch display below it is used to control certain vehicular functions and the four-zone climate control.

Again, the S Line pack proffers a sportier look, with a flat-bottomed steering wheel and power-adjustable sports seats plus upholstered in quilted Valcona leather. The pews, by the way, come with heating, ventilation and memory, along with powered lumbar support.

Other bits of standard equipment include a head-up display, soft-closing doors, rear door sunshades, Audi Connect navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Qi wireless charging, a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium 3D sound system, a 360-degree camera system, park assist, sports-tuned adaptive air suspension, rear-wheel steering and a hands-free powered tailgate.

Safety-wise, the Q7 comes fully kitted with autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane keeping assist, evasive steering assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, reverse AEB, a door opening warning and adaptive high beam.

Production of the second-gen, second-facelift Audi Q7 has begun at DRB-Hicom’s Pekan, Pahang plant at a rate of three units a day (five-day work week), ahead of its launch next month. The SUV, which has been open for booking since April 10 at an estimated price of RM469k-RM489k, is the first locally-assembled (CKD) Audi in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

“This manufacturing plant and its transformation with a modernised and updated product portfolio is really a centre of excellence. Customers will continue to experience the same Audi quality, performance and luxury – now made in Malaysia,” said Volkswagen Group Malaysia MD Dr Susanne Lehmann.

The Pekan plant, which currently assembles Volkswagens Golf, Arteon, Tiguan Allspace and Touareg (the Audi Q7’s sister), is also expected to roll out other Audi models in the future, at a capacity of 5,000 units per annum. An initial investment of over RM12 million has been made towards this.

The last Q7 to be sold in Malaysia officially was the pre-first facelift second-gen model in the late 2010s, which was priced up to RM600k. This second facelift gets a new front fascia with sharper headlights – replete with eyebrow-style daytime running lights – allied to an octagonal Singleframe grille with an open hexagonal mesh, while vertical air inlets sit at either corner. You also get OLED taillights, and both the front and rear light signatures can be customised to your liking.

Local models come standard with HD matrix LED headlights with laser high beams and headlamp washers, and the S line package, which throws on a sportier air intake design, a rear diffuser and body-coloured cladding. The second row is split 40:20:40; the third 50:50.

Safety-wise, the Q7 comes fully kitted with autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane keeping assist, evasive steering assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, reverse AEB, a door opening warning and adaptive high beam.

2025 Audi Q7 CKD open for booking in Malaysia – May launch, 3.0T V6 mild hybrid, RM469k to RM489k est

At long last, Audi Malaysia’s worst-kept secret is out of the bag. Distributor PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM) has announced that the locally-assembled Audi Q7 is now open for booking, with a launch slated for next month. Ingolstadt’s seven-seater luxury SUV is its first CKD model in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

Offered in a single 3.0 TFSI S line variant, the Q7 is estimated to be priced between RM469,000 and RM489,000 – we’ll assume that the upper limit is with the Audi assurance package five-year warranty and servicing included. This compares favourably against its German rivals – the BMW X5 xDrive50e starts from RM494,800 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE450 (with a four-year warranty) at RM524,888. • 2025 Audi Q7 CKD open for booking in Malaysia – 3.0 TFSI quattro, 340 PS, RM480k to RM530k estimated

2025 Audi Q7 CKD open for booking in Malaysia – 3.0 TFSI quattro, 340 PS, RM480k to RM530k estimated

It was confirmed last month that the Audi Q7 would make a return in CKD locally-assembled form, and now it appears that the order books have begun. Audi Centre Glenmarie sales advisor Muhammad Zarul Ashidil shared the news on Facebook (now taken down) ahead of the car’s slated launch in May.

The seven-seater behemoth carries estimated pricing of between RM480,000 and RM530,000 – significantly higher than its also-CKD MLB Evo platform sibling, the Volkswagen Touareg. That car was recently given a massive RM69,300 price cut and now retails starting from RM384,972. The Q7 is, however, much lower than the last time the second-generation model was offered here in its original form, when it retailed at RM599,900.

Assuming that the Audi’s final price is on the lower end of the spectrum (at least with the basic two-year warranty), that would compare favourably against its German rivals – the BMW X5 xDrive50e that starts from RM494,800 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE450 (with a four-year warranty) at RM524,888. The Audi and Mercedes, lest we forget, are the only models in the segment to come with seven seats.

Unlike the Touareg and the (again, CKD) Porsche Cayenne, the Q7 is offered in most markets as a mild hybrid. Power comes from the same 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 as those cars, here producing 340 PS (the same as the Touareg) and 500 Nm of torque (identical to the Cayenne). This is paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive.

The Q7 received its second facelift last year, gaining a new, sportier front bumper design, optional customisable matrix LED headlights and OLED taillights and a mildly updated interior (the car received an all-new Q8-derived dashboard back in 2019).

By the way, the Chili Red example shown in the video above is not representative of the Malaysian-market model. Some digging revealed that Zarul took these photos during his visit to Audi Centre Perth in Australia earlier this month.
