Honda Civic FE Facelift 2025

  • 2025 Honda Civic facelift Malaysian review – turbo vs hybrid; which of the C-segment bestseller is better?

Launched in Malaysia earlier this year, the 11th-generation Honda Civic facelift brings to our market a variant line-up mirroring that of the pre-facelift model, which is comprised of three petrol-powered variants – the 1.5L E, 1.5L V and the 1.5L RS – and one hybrid, the 2.0L e:HEV RS.

Pricing for the 2025 Honda Civic facelift starts at RM133,900 for the 1.5L E, through RM144,900 for the 1.5L V, and RM149,900 for the 1.5L RS, up to RM167,900 for the hybrid 2.0L e:HEV RS; all prices are on-the-road without insurance. In this video review, our man Hafriz Shah compares the top two variants, the turbocharged 1.5L RS and the hybrid 2.0L e:HEV RS.

Key differences are in their powertrains; the 1.5L RS sports a 1.5 litre turbocharged inline-four cylinder petrol engine that outputs 182 PS at 6,000 rpm and 240 Nm from 1,700 rpm to 4,500 rpm, driving the front wheels through a CVT with seven virtual ratios. As for the hybrid, this features an Atkinson-cycle 2.0 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 143 PS at 6,000 rpm and 184 Nm from 5,000 rpm to 6,000 rpm.

This works primarily as a generator for a 1.05-kWh lithium-ion battery, which powers an electric motor that makes 184 PS from 5,000 rpm to 6,000 rpm and 315 Nm from 0-2,000 rpm. This drives the front wheels through an electronic continuously variable transmission (E-CVT) and does most of the propulsion, though the engine is also engaged to the driveline via a lock-up clutch at higher speeds where it is most efficient.

There’s plenty of kit, even from the base variant which gets automatic LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, rain-sensing wipers (previously only from the petrol RS onwards), 16-inch wheels with 215/55R16 tyres, remote engine start, walk away auto lock, keyless entry and start, passive cruise control, Normal and Econ drive modes and a seven-inch digital instrument display accompanied by an analogue speedometer.

Featured here on the RS area fully digital 10.2-inch instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control as well as Active Noise Control (ANC) that works together with Active Sound Control (ASC) to reduce outside noise while enhancing the engine sound to deliver an exciting driving experience.

For driving assistance, the Honda Sensing suite applies to all variants, and includes Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System (basically AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow (LSF), Auto High Beam (AHB) and Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN).

With 80% market share in its class, the Honda Civic is clearly a popular choice among Malaysians, even with crossovers and SUVs seeing strong demand from buyers. What makes the 2025 Civic facelift tick? Watch the video review here.

Honda Civic Hybrid is 2025 North American Car of the Year; Civic is most honoured model in award’s history

The 2025 North American Car of the Year (NACOTY) is the current Honda Civic Hybrid, the electrified variant of America’s most popular compact car. This is the fourth time the Civic nameplate has won NACOTY, bettered by no other nameplate in the award’s 30-plus years.

It’s also the second NACOTY win for the 11th-gen Civic and the seventh Honda to get a North American Car or Truck of the Year award – Civic (2006, 2016, 2022, 2025), Ridgeline (2006, 2017) and Accord (2018).

“We are honoured to have leading automotive journalists select the Honda Civic Hybrid as the North American Car of the Year. Our fun-to-drive hybrid-electric models are a key part of our Honda electrification strategy, and sales of the new Civic Hybrid will ultimately represent about 40% of Civic sales,” said Honda Auto Sales AVP Jessika Laudermilk.

Revealed for the US market in early 2024, the facelifted 11th-gen is offered in four-door sedan and five-door hatchback bodystyles, where there are LX, Sport, Sport Hybrid, Sport Touring Hybrid and Si variants.

The car recently launched in Malaysia – the base E is RM2,000 pricier at RM133,900 but the RS petrol is RM2,000 cheaper at RM149,900. The V’s (RM144,900) and RS hybrid’s (RM167,900) prices are unchanged.

Want to see what the recently-launched 2025 Honda Civic FE facelift looks like in the new Canyon River Blue Metallic exterior colour? Here you go. The entrance of this blue (also found on the CR-V) sees the exit of the pre-facelift’s Lunar Silver Metallic, which you could have on any variant except the hybrid.

Besides this blue, you can have your new Civic in Platinum White Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Ignite Red Metallic and Crystal Black Pearl, although the black’s not available on the hybrid. That’s five hues in all.

Launched exactly a week ago, the FE facelift gets a new fascia that’s easily distinguishable from the pre-facelift, some new tech and extra features for pretty much the same price. The base E is RM2,000 pricier at RM133,900 but the RS petrol is RM2,000 cheaper at RM149,900. The V’s (RM144,900) and RS hybrid’s (RM167,900) prices are unchanged.

2025 Honda Civic facelift walk-around video tour – improved specs, Google Built-in, RM134k to RM168k

The Honda Civic FE has over 80% of the non-national C-segment sedan pie to itself, so it’s clearly a very desirable product (people buy sedans for more selfish reasons than SUVs, and it’s probably more skewed towards guys) already. As with most successful formulas, just a tweak or two, plus some new features to keep it abreast tech-wise would be enough.

That’s the case for the 2025 Honda Civic facelift that was launched yesterday – the sedan gets a new fascia (easily distinguishable from the pre-facelift), some new tech and extra features for, plus minus, the same price. The base E is RM2,000 pricier at RM133,900 but the RS petrol is RM2,000 cheaper at RM149,900. The V (RM144,900) and RS hybrid (RM167,900) have unchanged RRPs.

The facelift consists of a new bumper with a more protruding ‘mouth’ flanked by slim vertical air curtains in place of the previous fog lamp cutouts. The grille is larger than before so there’s no more big forehead, and the space is covered with a honeycomb mesh. The rear gets ‘smoked’ tail lamps.

Inside, the 9.0-inch factory touchscreen head unit is now standard across the range and it includes Google Built-in, which means that Google services such as Maps, Assistant and the Play Store are integrated, and you can summon it with OK Google. There’s now wireless Android Auto (only Apple CarPlay was wireless before) and all variants get the Honda Connect telematics system and solar/security window film. The biggest winner is the base E.

Honda Sensing is also standard for all Civics, and the driver assist pack gets some updates here. Forward Collision Warning (FCW) gains bicycle and pedestrian detection while Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC, with Low Speed Follow) comes with smoother braking and acceleration. Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS) has a more linear form of operation for less jarring steering assistance, Honda says.

Finally, there’s a new colour in Canyon River Blue Metallic, which replaces Lunar Silver Metallic in the list. Platinum White Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl and Ignite Red Metallic are all popular and have been retained. The new blue is the same hue seen on the CR-V.

2025 Honda Civic with Google Built-in – first Japanese car with integrated Google Maps, Play Store in M’sia

The 2025 Honda Civic facelift is now launched in Malaysia, and one of the biggest highlights of the minor change is the availability of wireless Android Auto (previously, only Apple CarPlay was wireless) and Google Built-in on all variants. The latter is the first of its kind for a new car in Malaysia.

First announced with the 2023 Honda Accord in North America (the one after the final Accord sold in Malaysia), where it was fitted on higher-end variants, Honda’s implementation of Google Built-in sees popular Google apps and features such as Google Assistant, Google Maps and the Play Store integrated into the factory head unit.

Shortcuts of these apps are lined up in a vertical strip next to the physical controls on the right side of the 9.0-inch colour touchscreen for added convenience. You can summon Google Assistant with ‘OK Google’ and make commands.

The rest of the infotainment’s interface looks similar to before, so you get a proper factory-style look and experience, as opposed to an aftermarket Android head unit. Check out the pics above.

Honda’s Google Built-in is not to be confused with the full-blown Android Automotive OS used by Volvo. As mentioned, it’s standard on all variants of the 2025 Civic facelift, including the base E variant, which gets an upgrade in screen size (was 7.0-inch, smaller than the rest). 2025 Honda Civic facelift launched in Malaysia – better specs, sharper looks; RM134k-RM168k, 1.5L RS less

Following the start of order taking in December last year, Honda Malaysia has now officially launched the 11th-generation (FE) Honda Civic facelift today. The variant line-up remains unchanged from the pre-facelift model and includes three petrol options (1.5L E, 1.5L V and 1.5L RS) along with a sole hybrid in the form of the 2.0L e:HEV RS.

Pricing starts at RM133,900 on-the-road without insurance for the base E, which is RM2,000 more than before. The V stays the same at RM144,900, while the petrol RS is cheaper by RM2,000 at RM149,900. The hybrid RS keeps the RM167,900 price tag as before.

In terms of styling changes, the new Civic gets a redesigned front bumper with a more protruding lower section and slender air curtains in place of the previous fog lamp sections. The main grille is also larger than before to get rid of the pre-facelift’s distinctive “forehead,” paired with a honeycomb mesh that is also applied to the lower intake. The new front end sees 3 mm being added to overall length to now span 4,681 mm, while the width (1,802 mm), height (1,415 mm) and wheelbase (2,735 mm) stay the same.

As for the rear, it remains pretty much identical to the pre-facelift model, save for the smoked taillights. Moving inside, the interior maintains the same dashboard design, free-standing infotainment touchscreen, honeycomb mesh over the air outlets, steering wheel design and centre console layout.

Also familiar are the powertrains, with petrol variants continuing to be powered by Honda’s VTEC Turbo engine. The 1.5 litre inline-four mill serves up 182 PS (180 hp or 134 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 240 Nm of torque from 1,700 to 4,500 rpm, with drive going to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with seven virtual speeds.

Meanwhile, the Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) system in the hybrid variant features a 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated inline-four petrol engine running on the Atkinson cycle to make 143 PS (141 hp or 105 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 184 Nm from 5,000 to 6,000 rpm.

The engine in the hybrid system acts primarily as a generator for a 1.05-kWh lithium-ion battery, which is used to juice an electric motor rated at 184 PS (181 hp or 135 kW) from 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and 315 Nm from 0 to 2,000 rpm.

The electric motor drives the front wheels via an electronic continuously variable transmission (E-CVT) and does most of the propulsion work, although the engine can also provide direct drive via a lock-up clutch at higher speeds when it is more efficient.

Performance-wise, the petrol-only variants will take anywhere between 8.3 to 8.5 seconds to get from 0-100 km/h, with all three having a top speed of 200 km/h. The 2.0L e:HEV is the quickest in the century sprint at 7.9 seconds, although its top speed is down to 180 km/h. The hybrid boasts the best fuel consumption of the lot at 4 l/100 km, while it is 6.3 l/100 km for the 1.5L RS and 6.0 l/km for both the 1.5L E and V.

On the matter of equipment, the Civic sees some significant changes, the first of which is an upgraded 9-inch Advanced Display Audio that is now standard across the range. The new infotainment system also comes with Google built-in (a first among Japanese brands here), providing users with access to several Google services such as the Play Store, Maps and Assistant.

Wireless Android Auto support has also been added to complement the previously available wireless Apple CarPlay, while other features that come with every Civic variant are the Honda Connect telematics system as well as solar and security window film tint from Ecotint.

As for the rest of the kit list, we’ll start with the 1.5L E that comes standard with automatic LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, rain-sensing wipers, (previously only from the petrol RS onwards), 16-inch wheels (with 215/55 profile tyres), remote engine start, walk away auto lock, keyless entry and start, passive cruise control, Normal and Econ drive modes and a seven-inch digital instrument display (accompanied by an analogue speedometer).

The list continues with single-zone automatic air-conditioning with rear vents, a leather steering wheel, fabric seat upholstery, a 60:40 split-folding rear bench seats and four speakers.

Stepping up to the 1.5L V adds things like 17-inch wheels (with 215/50 profile tyres), paddle shifters, an additional Sport mode, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, leather seat upholstery, an eight-way powered driver seat and four more speakers for a total of eight.

After the 1.5L V is the 1.5L RS, which is marked out from lesser variants by cues such as black-painted side mirrors and shark fin antenna, a boot lid spoiler, chrome tailpipe finishers, black door handles, combination leather and suede seat upholstery with red stitching, alloy pedals, a black headliner, footwell lighting and ambient lighting strips integrated into the gloss black door trims.

Aside from the sporty aesthetic touches, the petrol-only RS improves upon the 1.5L V by gaining a wireless charging pad, an additional Individual drive mode as well as larger 18-inch wheels (with 235/40 profile tyres) in a matte black finish.

At the top of the range, the 2.0L e:HEV RS carries over the 1.5L RS’ looks, but with blue accents for the Honda logo, black half chrome door handles and a different, seven-spoke wheel design in an 18-inch size and matte grey finish.

Improvements over the non-hybrid RS include a fully digital 10.2-inch instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control as well as Active Noise Control (ANC) that works together with Active Sound Control (ASC) to reduce outside noise while enhancing the engine sound to deliver an exciting driving experience.

In the safety department, all variants come standard with six airbags (front, side and curtain), front and rear seatbelt reminder, rear seat reminder, ISOFIX child seat anchors, automatic door lock, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Agile Handling Assist (AHA), ABS, EBD, emergency stop signal as well as front and rear parking sensors.

Driver assistance systems include auto brake hold, hill start assist, a driver attention monitor and a multi-angle reverse camera. Honda’s LaneWatch blind spot camera (on the left of the vehicle) is still used for the Civic (and other models in the line-up), although remains reserved from the V onwards.

Once again, the Honda Sensing suite is fitted to every Civic variant on sale, with functions available being Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS; basically AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow (LSF), Auto High Beam (AHB) and Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN).

Some of these functions have been improved, such as FCW that gains bicycle and pedestrian detection. The ACC also operates with smoother braking and acceleration, while LKAS has a more linear form of operation for less jarring steering assistance.

The Civic is offered in five colours, with Canyon River Blue Metallic being a new option to replace Lunar Silver Metallic, while returning hues are Platinum White Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl and Ignite Red Metallic.

2025 Honda Civic facelift spec sheet (top), optional accessories (bottom)

All Civics come with a five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty and five times free labour for servicing (applicable within 100,000 km or five years). Specific to the 2.0L e:HEV RS is an additional eight-year, unlimited-mileage for the lithium-ion hybrid battery.

For those wanting to add some official accessories to their new Civic, there are several packages to choose from, starting with the Modulo Package (RM3,738) that is available for all variants and includes front, side and rear under spoilers.

Next comes the Modulo Premium Package with the same items as the Modulo Package, but adds on a rear lower garnish, exhaust pipe finishers, a boot lid spoiler, fender garnish and black emblem set.

This version of the Modulo Premium Package is priced at RM6,900 and is specific to E and V variants only, with RS variants getting their own version at RM5,063. Both the petrol and hybrid RS cars already come with exhaust pipe finishers and a boot lid spoiler, so those items are omitted from the Modulo Premium RS Package.

Next comes the Urban Package at RM3,002 for the E and V variants that includes door visors, footwell lighting, a wireless charging pad and illuminated sill plates. The RS variants get a version called the Urban RS Package that doesn’t include a wireless charging pad and footwell lighting, both of which already come standard.

Further options are the Utility Package (RM659) for all variants and includes a body cover, boot tray and boot organiser. There’s also the Protection Package (body and window coating, wheel lock nuts) for RM2,888, along with individual accessories like door reflective safety film, front and rear digital video recorders (RM1,149), Touch ‘n Go RFID tag and sports pedals (E and V only).

  • 2025 Honda Civic facelift coming to Malaysia next month – what to expect from the 11th-gen FE refresh

2025 Honda Civic facelift coming to Malaysia next month – what to expect from the 11th-gen FE refresh

Honda Malaysia’s first new model introduction for 2025 will happen from the get-go, with the Honda Civic facelift set to make its local debut in January. The timeline for its Malaysian launch was revealed by the company when it opened the order books for the C-segment sedan last week.

The refreshed FE was supposed to have been launched in Malaysia before the year was out, as one of the two new models HMSB had planned to introduce here this year. The delay is minor, given that it is just four months on from its entry into the Thai market.

What can we expect from the facelift of the 11th-gen Civic, of which more than 28,000 units have been sold since it was launched here in January 2022? Well, there’s no mention of variants that will come with the refresh as yet, but it should effectively mirror that offered by the pre-facelift.

The outgoing car was presented in four variants forms, with these being three petrol units, the 1.5L E, 1.5L V and 1.5L RS, and a sole hybrid, the e:HEV 2.0L RS, which sat at the top of the civilian Civic range locally.

That four version line-up should be retained with the refresh. There were whispers going about that one of the lower variants could be dropped, in this case the E, given that most buyers away from the RS – which led the way for the petrol powertrain in terms of sales – tended to opt for the V, but the base version is certain to remain in place, since it is integral to fleet sales (the PDRM uses the E as a patrol car). So, very much status quo in terms of variants offered.

Of course, a facelift means exactly that, and new exterior revisions abound, led by a redesigned front bumper. The changes at the front end introduce a more prominent protruding lower section as well as a thicker grille that reduces the car’s distinctive large ‘forehead’. The grille itself is now a hexagonal honeycomb mesh design for both the main and lower sections.

Honda Civic RS Prototype at Tokyo Auto Salon 2024, and PDRM patrol car example, pre-facelift 1.5L E.

The look was first presented by the RS Prototype at Tokyo Auto Salon 2024 in January before being seen in series production form days later on the facelift’s debut in the US. Mention has been also made that the e:HEV RS will feature a new 18-inch matte grey alloy wheel design, and it remains to be seen if there are any changes to the petrol wheel design.

As indicated on the facelift for Thailand, the present powertrains will carry over into the refresh unchanged mechanically and in terms of output. On the petrol versions, a 1.5 litre VTEC Turbo four-cylinder engine offering 182 PS at 6,000 rpm and 240 Nm of torque from 1,700 to 4,500 rpm, mated to a CVT, continues to hold court.

Meanwhile, the e:HEV RS is equipped with the automaker’s Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) system as seen previously. This combines a 134 PS and 189 Nm 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine, acting primarily as a generator, with an electric motor, which offers 184 PS (181 hp, or 135 kW) and 315 Nm from 0-2,000 rpm, with power sent to the front wheels via an electric CVT.

2025 Honda Civic facelift coming to Malaysia next month – what to expect from the 11th-gen FE refresh

Equipment levels on the new car should also remain largely unchanged, from the single-zone air-conditioning on the petrol variants and a dual-zone AC on the hybrid and fabric uphholstery on the base variant and leather on the V onwards to the inclusion of the Honda Connect suite of telematic services, which is presently available from the V grade on.

Some new bits do go on. In Thailand, the nine-inch touchscreen head unit now comes with wireless Android Auto connectivity to join wireless Apple CarPlay available previously, so that should also make its way here on models equipped with the particular Advanced Display Audio HU (the present base E features a seven-inch Display Audio unit).

Buyers can also expect to see a Google built-in setup on the higher-spec variants, although it remains to be seen if the Malaysian-spec e:HEV RS will get the 12-speaker Bose Premium Audio setup as offered on the model in Thailand. Should that come about, it will replace the eight-speaker system seen on the pre-facelift.

As with the pre-FL, all variants of the refreshed Civic will feature the automaker’s Sensing suite of driver assistance systems, consisting of collision mitigation braking (AEB), lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation with land departure warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow and lead car departure notification. The automaker’s LaneWatch camera system has been retained, and so it should again be found on the car from the V grade on.

As for prices, we can expect there to be very little deviation from that seen on the pre-FL, based on pricing seen in Thailand for the facelift, which has been lowered slightly compared to when it the pre-FL was launched in the Kingdom back in August 2021.

Meanwhile, in its final Malaysian price revision made in July 2023, the 1.5E was priced at RM131,900, the 1.5L V at RM144,900 and the 1.5L RS petrol at RM151,900. At that point, the e:HEV RS was priced at RM166,500, but this was then subsequently increased to RM167,900.

2025 Honda Civic facelift launching in Malaysia in Jan 2025 – order books open for the refreshed 11th-gen FE

Honda Malaysia (HMSB) has announced that it has opened the order books for the 11th-gen Honda Civic facelift, which is set to be officially launched in January 2025. The arrival of the refreshed FE, which made its debut in Thailand in August, is a bit later than intended, as it was supposed to have been introduced before the year was out, one of the two new models planned for entry into Malaysia this year.

No mention of variants that will come with the refresh, but it should mirror that presently seen on the pre-FL that was launched here in January 2022, with four variants being offered in our market. These are three petrol units, the 1.5L E, 1.5L V and 1.5L RS, and an e:HEV 2.0L RS hybrid.

New exterior revisions include redesigned front and rear bumpers, with the front unit featuring hexagonal honeycomb mesh main and lower grille sections and a more jutting lower section, along with slimmer side air inlets. Mention is made of a new 18-inch matte grey alloy wheel design that will be available for the e:HEV RS.

As indicated on the facelift for Thailand, the present powertrains should carry over into the refresh unchanged. The petrol versions feature a 1.5 litre VTEC Turbo four-cylinder engine offering 182 PS at 6,000 rpm and 240 Nm of torque from 1,700 to 4,500 rpm, mated to a CVT.

Meanwhile, the e:HEV RS is equipped with an Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) system, which pairs a 134 PS and 189 Nm 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine, acting primarily as a generator, with an electric motor, which offers 184 PS (181 hp, or 135 kW) and 315 Nm from 0-2,000 rpm, with power sent to the front wheels via an electric CVT.

Some new bits do go on. It remains to be seen if all variant will get the nine-inch touchscreen head unit, which finally adds wireless Android Auto to join wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity. Also, the audio system has been bumped up for the e:HEV RS, with the previously seen eight-speaker system being replaced by a 12-speaker Bose Premium Audio setup.

As with the pre-FL, all variants of the refreshed Civic will feature the automaker’s Sensing suite of driver assistance systems. More on the Civic facelift when it makes its debut next month.

Honda has released photos and initial details of the facelifted, 11th-generation Civic ahead of a market launch in Japan in the fall of this year. Unlike Malaysia that gets the Civic in sedan form, Japan only gets the model as a hatchback.

The big news with the facelift is the introduction of an RS variant, which was first previewed by a “prototype” at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon. This features a 1.5 litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine making the same 182 PS (180 hp or 134 kW) and 240 Nm of torque as the pre-facelift EX and LX trims, but with a six-speed manual driving the front wheels.

Just like in the Type R, there’s a rev-matching function for those who prefer not to perform the heel and toe dance when downshifting. Other performance tweaks include RS-specific suspension tuning, a five mm lower ride height and drive modes, while the aesthetics are improved with RS badges and more black accents.

As per the facelift, there’s a redesigned bumper at the front of the Civic, with the RS having slightly larger air curtains at the corners. The rear of the RS also appears to have exposed tailpipes compared to the other variants. Buyers can also option a range of accessories, including a rear wing, fog lamps as well as a bumper lip and skirting.

In addition the RS, the Civic will also be offered with Honda’s e:HEV hybrid powertrain in LX and EX variants. These are likely to employ the same 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated inline-four petrol engine making 141 PS (139 hp or 104 kW) and 182 Nm, which acts as a generator to charge a battery that powers a front-mounted electric motor rated at 184 PS (181 hp or 135 kW) and 315 Nm. At higher speeds, the engine provides direct drive to the wheels via a lock-up clutch for better efficiency.

2025 Honda Civic facelift launched in Thailand – 1.5L Turbo, e:HEV powertrains; three variants from RM132k

The facelifted 11th-generation Honda Civic has been launched in Thailand today, and the model goes on sale in the kingdom with two powertrain choices across three variants. Estimated pricing for the 1.5 Turbo EL+ is 1.03 million baht (RM132,095), the e:HEV EL+ at 1.09 million baht (RM139,790) and the e:HEV RS at 1.23 million baht (RM157,780), according to Headlight Magazine.

Externally, the facelifted FE-generation Civic gets redesigned front and rear bumpers as seen on the car’s US debut, with both EL+ and RS trim specifications getting honeycomb mesh in the main and lower grille sections.

For exterior dimensions, the facelifted FE Civic measures 4,681 mm long, 1,802 mm wide and 1,415 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,733 mm. The two e:HEV variants are longer in the wheelbase by one mm (2,734 mm), and have a slightly smaller fuel tank capacity at 40 litres, versus the 47 litres of the 1.5L Turbo.

Front and rear track widths for the 1.5L Turbo EL+ are 1,547 mm and 1,587 mm, with the e:HEV EL+ measured at 1,547 mm and 1,586 mm, front and rear; the e:HEV RS is listed to be 10 mm narrower on those counts, at 1,537 mm and 1,576 mm. The 1.5L Turbo EL+ weighs 1,319 kg, while the e:HEV EL+ and e:HEV RS weigh 1,412 kg and 1,429 kg respectively.

Headlamps are projector units on the 1.5L Turbo EL+ trim and LEDs on the two e:HEV variants, with automatic functionality across the board. Also standard are LED daytime running lights, LED tail lamps, and headlamp auto-off function upon switching off the ignition.

Door handles are in body colour for the 1.5L Turbo EL+, adding chrome on the e:HEV EL+ and are black with chrome on the e:HEV RS. All three get side mirrors with indicators, and which also get electric adjustment and power folding. The two e:HEV variants additionally get rain-sensing wipers.

Rolling stock for the EL+ trim level for both 1.5L Turbo and e:HEV powertrain variants are 17-inch two-tone alloys, shod in 215/50R17 tyres. The e:top HEV trim for Thailand gets the seven-spoke design as seen on the US-market car, and are of an 18-inch diameter on 235/40R18 tyres and in a single-tone grey finish rather than the machined two-tone set of the American model.

Powertrain for the sole 1.5L Turbo variant in Thailand continues to be the 1,498 cc turbocharged petrol inline-four cylinder unit that makes 178 hp at 6,000 rpm and 240 Nm from 1,700 rpm to 4,500 rpm, driving the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission. Suspension is by MacPherson struts in front, and a multi-link setup at the rear.

The 2.0L e:HEV variants get a 1,993 cc naturally aspirated petrol inline-four engine that outputs 141 PS at 6,000 rpm and 182 Nm at 4,500 rpm, matching those of the pre-facelift FE where it serves as a generator for an electric motor that produces 184 PS and 315 Nm of torque.

The colour scheme for the Thai-market Civic facelift interior is black for all three variants, with the 1.5L Turbo EL+ and e:HEV EL+ getting a leather and synthetic leather mix; the e:HEV RS gets suede and synthetic leather, with red contrast stitching, plus front door trim illumination and footwell lighting.

All three variants get push-button and remote engine start, the Honda Smart Key system, rear air-conditioning vents and automatic air-conditioning; the e:HEV RS adds the Smart Key card and dual-zone air-conditioning. All get an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, while the two hybrids add a four-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, self-dimming rear-view mirror and a wireless device charger.

For infotainment, all three variants get a Google built-in setup, where the nine-inch touchscreen head unit brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone connectivity. Also standard are Siri and Android Auto voice control, Bluetooth, four USB-C ports, and Honda Connect. An eight-speaker sound system is standard, while the top e:HEV RS gets a 12-speaker Bose Premium Audio setup. The two hybrid variants get Active Noise Control.

Honda Sensing is standard across all three variants in Thailand, and is comprised of collision mitigation braking (AEB), lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation with land departure warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, and lead car departure notification.

Further safety kit includes Honda LaneWatch (e:HEV EL+ and RS), front and rear parking sensors (e:HEV EL+ and RS), drive attention monitor, emergency stop signal, a multi-angle rear view camera, dual front, side and curtain airbags, front passenger and rear occupant seat belt reminder, Isofix child seat anchors, ABS, EBD, VSA, walk-away auto door lock, speed-activated door lock, and temporary puncture repair kit.

  • 2025 Honda Civic facelift in the US – 2.0L hybrid and non-hybrid trims; 1.5L VTEC Turbo engine dropped

2025 Honda Civic facelift in the US – 2.0L hybrid and non-hybrid trims; 1.5L VTEC Turbo engine dropped

Honda has revealed more information about the facelifted 2025 Honda Civic in the United States, which will get the refreshed model in four trim levels. These include two hybrid options, and customers will be able to get the Civic in sedan and hatchback body styles.

The two hybrid trims are the Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid, with both expected to receive an EPA combined fuel economy rating of nearly 50 mpg (21.3 km/l). Details of the electrified powertrain are limited for now, but the company says the two-motor setup paired with a 2.0 litre Atkinson-cycle inline-four petrol engine will generate 200 hp and 315 Nm of torque. It added that 40% of all Civic sales are expected to be hybrid trims.

The hybrid system comes with four levels of regenerative braking that are selectable via paddles on the steering wheel. Active Noise Control is also standard on hybrid trims, with the Sport Touring gaining additional wheel resonators to further reduce NVH.

With these outputs, American Honda Motor Company says the hybrid trims are the most powerful non-Type R Civics ever. The pre-facelift Civic Si packs 200 hp and 260 Nm by comparison, although that uses a 1.5 litre VTEC Turbo four-cylinder engine.

On that mention, the 2025 Civic will not be offered with said VTEC Turbo engine, which means the previous EX has been dropped from the line-up. What’s left (discounting the Si) are the LX (sedan only) and Sport trims which continue to use a non-electrified 2.0 litre engine, presumably with the same 158 hp and 187 Nm outputs. Pricing for the updated Civic in the US have yet to be announced.

Time for a facelift already? Yes, actually. Today’s 11th-generation Honda Civic was revealed in the US in April 2021, before going on sale there two months later. That means it’s close to three years old in that market, which is minor model change time. The Civic FE was launched in Malaysia in January 2022.

This is the US-market 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid in the country’s top Sport Touring trim level, uploaded by American Honda in its 2024 business outlook release. North America will now get a Civic Hybrid for both sedan and hatchback bodystyles, and the electrified variant will comprise about 40% of the Civic sales when it launches this summer.

For us, it gives us a good first look at the 2025 Civic facelift. We’ve seen it already actually, just that we didn’t know. The front end of the car you see here matches the Civic RS Prototype that we showed you from Tokyo Auto Salon 2024, featuring a thicker grille that reduces the FE’s distinctive large ‘forehead’. Honeycomb mesh replaces the current lines, matching the lower grille.

Speaking of that, the ‘mouth’ appears to be more protruding, but it’s certainly wider, and the side fog lamp housings are no more, replaced by a vertical vent at the edge of the bumper – the latter gives it a more Type R look. Those seven-spoke two-tone alloys look really big – 19-inch perhaps?

We also get a close up shot of the rear, which looks to have revised LED signatures. Honda’s US arm did not release any image of the interior, which would probably be left largely intact as the design is fresh, and good. How would this facelift look like as a hatchback? The TAS 2024 Civic RS Prototype is a hatch as there’s no sedan there.

So, when will we get the Civic FE facelift here in ASEAN and Malaysia. If you follow the timeline of the pre-facelift, we should be getting it half a year later, which points to early 2025, or late 2024 at the earliest. What do you think of the Civic’s new face?
