Mazda has released an initial set of photos of the 5-door hatchback version of the new Mazda 3, set to debut at the 2008 Bologna Motor Show on the 3rd of December 2008.

European customers will get a new 2.2 liter turbodiesel diesel that was added to the Mazda 6 recently, as well as the existing line-up of 1.6 liter petrol, 2.0 liter petrol and 1.6 liter turbodiesel engines. The 2.2 liter turbodiesel will be offered in two states of tune – a 150 PS version and a high-powered 185 PS version that’s enough to make the Mazda 3 a “warm hatch”, until the turbocharged petrol Mazdaspeed 3 is unveiled of course.

Head on after the jump to have a look at the hatchback’s images.

It’s a painful experience whenever i saw sexy beautiful car such as this posted on paul’s site, simply because I based in Malaysia, and car price here just freaking costly. In that sense, do the average malaysian realize mr. paul is actually torturing us on a daily basis? I always do. But my fingers just like to click on this paultan bookmark also on a daily basis. Why? because being tortured everyday, i am motivated to leave the country! Think.

we save money hoping to be able to own beauties like this some day. by the time we saved enough, its time to move on to bigger normal car because of bigger family, and then later on to other commitments. all we have left is to dream…. heck im barely have enough to save, still surviving… Malaysia boleh!

Nice, nicer than Latio Sport which is already a pretty nice car(I wish she has telescopic steering). Still love Mazda 6 more. Clear my shoplot first.

the Mazda 3 is not a hugely expensive car in malaysia.. not cheap, but you’re not buying a VW or BMW or Audi.. its going to be competitively priced against the civic, and altis for sure.

the sad fact is, the current model mazda 3(i like it) didnt sell well at all. it was cheaper than all its rivals, and still people didnt buy it in any significant numbers. In the end, there were huge discounts given to move stock.

someone should really consider local assembling mazdas, models like the 2, 3, 6 and CX7 will sell if their price is level with honda

“the Mazda 3 is not a hugely expensive car in malaysia.. not cheap, but you’re not buying a VW or BMW or Audi.. its going to be competitively priced against the civic, and altis for sure.”

I wonder how much you are earning to talk about this with such arrogance. Or maybe you are the type use Datuk daddy’s money to buy a Bimmer or Evo?

At current prices Mazda hatchback 1.6l is 112k, excl Insurance? You consider that as affordable? Just count if you put even 20% downpayment, how much u need to pay every month for a 4 yr loan! Some of my colleagues even take 9 (NINE) years loan for a freaking car!!!! Thanks to our “brilliant” G and the scamming outfit pretending to be a car company called Potong.

Whereas in places like Aus or UK? The price of the car for entry level car like Mazda 3 don’t even exceed average annual salary!!!

Reason Mazda don’t sell well is because of pricing. As I told u already, 1.6l hatchback is 112k. Add a few more K can get a 1.8 Civic. All things considered, even though I really like the Mazda, I will still get civic. Why? More worth it (esp when considered you need to take bloody 4 yrs loan at 2k+ a month just to buy the car) and better resale value (whn u consider the hugely expensive cost of the car).

I bet you if the Mazda is ard its ACTUAL price of ard 70-80k (maybe even less, not sure) I would definitely buy it over civic. But sorry lah, when its over 100k, due to the money involve, need to think twice.

So thx alot you piece of shit govt.

my comments are not meant to be arrogant and I believe they were constructive and taking into account the current market situation. and besides that, you have no idea who am i, or what i do, or how i buy my cars.

the question i have for you sir, is do you even know what i’m talking about before you started shooting your mouth off?

are you saying a car in the price bracket of RM90k-130k(civic, altis, mazda3, ford focus..etc) is a hugely expensive sum for a car that you need to be a rich man, or datuk, or as you said, Datuk’s son to be able to afford it? please get real. thousands of middle class malaysians own these cars.

..and, i’m making comments based on the Malaysian Market.
forget about the UK or Australia..etc. we do not live there. We live here, and will have to learn to cope with what we have. If things change for the better, great, if not, then what? sit behind your computer and ‘mope’ about it? please do not try to politicise everything. we all know about our super high car taxes and protectionism.

people will still buy cars, both cheap and expensive.. life goes on..

    Ha ha…

If the Suzuki (CBU Japan) can be sold at 91K why is the Vios, City (locally assembled) about the same price? Malaysians are idiots. Those cars can be sold at 70k but why should UMW and Honda lower their price since stupid people keep paying the high prices while complaining about tax…

Keep on blaming taxes for the prices like whiny kids, do you even know how much tax is ACTUALLY paid?

i think we just have to accept that cars are priced this way in malaysia. it’s a fact. we do have a lot of advantages in other forms by living here, as life is way less competitive. you may be able to get a car in UK or HK cheaper, but maintenance of insurance and parking expenses would already deter you from doing so.

so stop complaining and work up your way in life diligently, as it is relatively easy to get a nice car on your own (without ur daddy/datuk) in this stupidandbolehland.

btw this mazda 3 is indeed a value for money and a darn good looking car.

btw…mazda has a great dsg nowadays…better than toyot n honda..bt still nt sell well in bolehland…i think in term of maintenance it is same wit honda n toyot..easy to maintain…i wonder y it still cant beat the other 2 in bolehland..

if we compare with aussie…theres alot of mazda…u can c alot especially cx-7..alot than the murano n harrier…

u done your calculations? even when fuel in uk costs rm10 per litre and fuel in malaysia costs rm1/per litre…they still save a lot more money than us. and the second hand value of cars here is pornographic, a 3 year old vios can sell for rm55,000, daylight robbery

I totally agree with you.. housing costs in the UK is crazy.. but its cheap now, as their economy is going down the drain.. good to buy if you actually have a job right now as their unemployment is going up every month.

but things like insurance, parking, etc. etc. is still killer high. and the amount of taxes they pay.. i cant begin to imagine it. honestly, I prefer to live in malaysia anyday over the UK.

  34. kickas5car said,

Thanks BanyakMasuk. Btw, westerners as individuals don’t save much, hence the credit crunch today. As a whole we need to add-value to the national economy i.e. higher quality labour force, it’s one of the way to make cars cheaper collectively. I believe it’s a better solution than condemning the gov everyday (not to say they don’t deserve the condemning), as all of you have the liberty to do so during election.

This is Malaysia..the gov has brilliant idea..Car manufacturers work day and night to come out with nice car…our gov just sit down and tax them more that 100% of car value and make more than triple from what the manufacturers would have earned….
