SPYSHOTS: Two new bodystyles for the MINI sighted

mini-5door-13

We’re just days away from the official unveiling of the new three-door F56 MINI Hatchback, but that will just be the beginning for a whole new generation of MINI. The MINI family will have a few new bodystyles coming soon, and we have sighted two of them here.

As it turns out, the MINI Countryman will not be the only MINI in the range with rear doors. Other than the traditional three-door hatch, it would appear that MINI will also sell a five-door version of the MINI Hatch, and our European spy photographers have snapped one on test in the picture above.

This second bodystyle appears to have six doors – four on the sides and two ‘barn’ doors at the rear, which leads us to believe this could be the new MINI Clubman. MINI appears to have abandoned the single suicide door concept for more traditional doors.

We also expect MINI to release a ‘Spacebox’ (internal codename) MPV later, which could be known as the MINI Traveler.

I am a bit shocked to see a 5 door mini. But I think i now like it.

A lot of people who wanted a Mini (me included) would have to go for the Countryman as it is the only 5 door model. And it seems that the Countryman doesn’t drive like on rails as per the mini hatch.

So I guess this will fix it.

Now, imagine The Beetle taking this same path as Mini and Fiat 500 into MPV, crossover, and all. Surely Volkswagen is tempted.
